Easton
“Is that who they are? I found them on the side of a rink looking hungry. They completely followed me when I said I had tacos.” She jokes and he shakes his head at her.
“Seriously Luci. You’re such a girl.” He rolls his eyes as he drags the last word out.
“You can’t insult me with that. Barrett already got me with it.” She fires back.
“You guys want to play?” I ask and their eyes get bigger. This is going to be fun.
“Umm yeah but we have to split you four up. We’re just playing pick up hockey too.” Joel stammers out.
“Some of the best fun.” Jackson adds. “Twins vs twins or oldest twin vs younger twins?”
“We have time to play both, I bet.” I throw out, excited to play.
“Then we start with twins vs twins.” Kingston says, smiling wide.
They finish their food and toss their trash before lacing up their skates. I grimace realizing I don’t have mine until Jackson clears his throat and holds mine up along with my practice
stick. “Really East, you should have more faith in us.”
I head for Luci’s side first, gripping her hip so she’ll turn to me. “Ok with this? I thought…..they said you love to play for fun but never really have time during the season.”
“This is the best. Thank you
Luci.”
“Enjoy then. I’ll sit over here and pretend Cole is whispering in my ear what’s going on.” She grins.
We divide up and let the boys start. They are pretty good. After Becker scores, he pulls Joel aside and shows him a few tricks. “Move your left foot before you do that.” We continue to give them little pointers and they take them well. After three rounds, Janet whistles loudly. “I hate to break it up, but they will come lock the doors soon. And it’s getting really late boys. I need to drop some of you off before your parents call me upset.”
We bump fists with the boys as they reluctantly leave the ice. Luci hugs Janet, who gives me an approving nod. “There’s another thirty minutes before they come to lock up” are her parting words with a big grin.
“One more game?” Jackson grins.
“Yep.” I steal the puck and take off before any of them can react.
We finish our game just in time. Luci claps for us at the end. Kingston bows in front of her, laughing. “Thank you, Luci Lou. We enjoyed it.”
“I did nothing except ask you about it.”
I tell them bye and wrap around her before opening her door. “That was fantastic.”
“Good. You look happy.”
“I am.” I drive us back to her place. As soon as we get in the door, she puts a hand on my chest.
“You have to wait right here. I need to go set something up, will only take two minutes.” She eyes me very seriously.
“Ok.” I lean against the wall and wait.
A few minutes later, she calls my name. I walk around and find her living room flickering with candles all over the table and on the floor with a huge blanket pile in the middle. There’s a plate with cupcakes in the center. One has a candle lit in the center of it. I walk over and sit across from her. “Happy birthday. It’s like an indoor picnic.” She hands me the cupcake with the candle.
“Did you make these?”
“Yes. Make a wish. I will not torture you and sing.”
I blow it out and see the boxes sitting wrapped on her table. “They’re delicious. You bought me presents too?” I compliment her after I eat it in two bites.
“I can cook some things.” She laughs. “And yes you get presents.”
“Do I get to open them tonight?” I ask curiously. Could I unwrap her like a present?
“No. In the morning, birthday boy.”
“Any way I can change your mind?”
“Nope.” She grins at me. “What were you going to offer me as a bribe?”
“As many earth–shattering orgasms as you want.”
“You are desperate to open those boxes.” She laughs.
“No, that would just be a bonus. You already gifted me something this morning. Three words I didn’t think I’d hear. I’m greedy though and I want more when it comes to you.”
“What do you want?” She asks softly.
“I want all of you, Luci. When you are ready for that, I want you to tell me.” I stare at her hungrily, making sure she knows exactly what I mean.
“How patient are you, Easton Reed?” She tilts her head.
“Not. I’m not at all patient truthfully. But I will wait however long you need. I know your…..past pushed you too fast. I am not him. I won’t keep my hands to myself though. Fair warning.” I tell her sincerely. “I love you and I’ll do what you need.”
Those eyes of hers give her away. She’s up to something. After another minute, she pulls her sweatshirt off and I stare at the white shirt she wears. It has a rectangle, like an ID, in the middle of her chest that says IDENTIFICATION: Floor, Ice
“Luci…” I growl at her before moving the cupcake plate to kneel in front of her.
