85 Two Girls

Simone POV

I can’t believe I’m overdue. Normally, fae pregnancies only last seven months, but tomorrow I’ll be eight months with two babies. I’m ready to hold my girls. At first, I thought that maybe the girls were going to take after Trevor, since his power didn’t manifest immediately. My father assured me that the fae genes would be dominant. I’ve also noticed my healing power is stronger than it’s ever been. I think it’s because the girls are sharing their own magic with me.

After everything with that a**hole at the hospital and forgiving my father, I decided to start working at the royal hospital. I love my work and though not many fae fall ill, there are many babies being born every day. I’m enjoying helping bring the next generation into our world. Jack offered Trevor a job at his company, so he still gets to practice law. I love that he can pop to New York with Jack and be back in time for us to have dinner.

I smile as I make my way down the hallway and step into the room where I expect to find my next patient. I’m shocked when I step inside and Noreen is waiting with my nephew, Jonathon, in her arms. I’m sure the look on my face is one of confusion. Noreen, is everything alright? Is Jonathon alright,” I ask, as I step completely into the room.

I didn’t hesitate to pull Jonathon out of her arms and look him over. Everything is great. I wanted to check on you. I’m sure you are getting anxious. I know I was with Jonathon, she says. I am. I just want to meet them.” I remember that feeling,” she says. Now, as much as I love seeing you and my handsome nephew, tell me why you’re here. I can tell something is up, so don’t bulls*t me sister.”

A smile spreads across her face. I love having sisters. I think I’m pregnant again, she says. My eyes get big. Holy sh*t, Jonathon is only a few months old. It’s like having twins,” I blurt out. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have said that. Hell, I’m having twins.” She giggles and I smile. No, it’s alright. I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. It took us years to have Jonathon. I’m so excited, Simone. I know it’s going to be hard, but I love the thought of another baby. I’m just hoping Jared will be too,” she says. Are you kidding me? He is going to be thrilled. First let’s see if you’re actually pregnant.”

I draw her blood and give it to one of the nurses to run to the lab. I spend the twenty minutes it takes for the test to come back holding my nephew and reassuring my sisterinlaw that Jared is going to be over the moon. Just as a knock sounds on the door, a dull pain starts in my back. I expect the nurse to step into the room, but instead it’s Jared. A look of concern marks his features as he looks between the three of us.

Noreen, what’s wrong,he asks. Before she can answer, the nurse steps into the room and hands me the test results. I smile and nod at Noreen. Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on,he says. I bounce my nephew on my hip as Noreen steps closer to Jared. Jared, nothing is wrong. Actually, everything is amazing, at least I think it is. I’m pregnant, Jared,” she says. His eyes get big before a huge smile breaks out on his face.

He pulls Noreen into his arms and presses a kiss on her lips. I’m just about to step out of the room to give

them a moment alone when he deepens the kiss, but the pain in my back that was dull becomes sharp. I groan and my steps falter. Simone, are you alright,” Noreen asks me as she moves to take Jonathon from me while Jared grips my arm. I’m not sure. I’m having back pain which could just be from being so heavily pregnant, or it could be contractions.

How the hell are you so calm,Jared asks as he starts to yell when I groan again. Calm down, Jared. Even if I’m in labor it could be hours.Bullsh*t you are having twins, and you are in pain,” he says. Seconds. later, the room is full of nurses and doctors. Ten minutes later, I’m in a room in a gown and the pain that was in my back is now wrapping around my belly. The door opens, and I expect it to be Trevor but my

father steps into the room.

Sweet girl, I just wanted to come and tell you how much I love you. I’m so proud of you. I can’t wait to meet my granddaughters,” he says. He hugs me the best he can and presses a kiss on my forehead. He really is so different. He is the father I always prayed to have. Dad, do you know if Jared got a hold of Trevor? He will get him sweetheart. He’ll be here any minute,” he says. The pain hits again, and I fight the

urge to scream.

I breathe the best I can until the contraction subsides. The door opens again and this time Gordon steps into the room. Well, princess, it’s time to see if we will be welcoming our new princesses soon.” My father looks panicked when Gordon moves to the end of my bed. I start to giggle but quickly stop when another contraction hits. Dad, you can head to the waiting room,I grit out. Relief flashes in his eyes before he

looks torn.

Dad, I’ll be fine. In a minute Gordon is going to be checking my v*gina. As much as I love how close we have become, I don’t want you seeing my v*gina.Oh, thank the goddess. I love you, sweetheart,he says. He quickly kisses my forehead before he rushes out of my room like his a** is on fire. Gordon chuckles before he gets to work. Alright, princess, you are progressing nicely. You are already at five centimeters.

I’m going to grab the ultrasound so we can make sure everyone is in the right position,he says.

I rub my belly as another contraction ebbs away. Mommy is so excited to meet you, my girls. I hope

daddy gets here soon. I can’t wait for you to meet your sister, Holly. She is the most precious little girl. The

three of you are going to be so loved.” This time when the door opens, Clarice and Nick rush inside. I look

between them, confused. Where is Holly? My mom and dad offered to keep her. I pumped enough that

we won’t have to worry until we meet our little girls,Clarice says, placing her hands on my belly.

Nick comes close and presses a kiss on my forehead. Where the hell is Trevor,he asks. They have

become close. Before I can answer, the door bangs open and Trevor rushes inside. Oh my goddess, my love. I am so sorry,” he says, rushing to the side of my bed. It’s alright, Trevor. I’m fine. Gordon just checked me. I’m five centimeters. He should be back any minute to do an ultrasound.

My words trail off when another contraction hits. Trevor holds one hand and Clarice holds the other. The door opens just as the contraction fades. Gordon pushes the ultrasound machine inside and five minutes later we get a glimpse of the girls. I thank the goddess that they are both head down. Gordon checks me again and I’m a seven. I’m not sure how much time passes when a scream tears through me.

Gordon and Glinda, along with two other nurses come running inside. This time, when Gordon checks me,

I’m ten and ready to push. Alright princess, I want you to give me a good push to the count of ten with the next contraction,he says. You are doing so amazing, Simone. You are so strong. I love you so much,Trevor says. I love you too, Trevor.Gordon encourages Trevor to get behind me. A nurse grabs one leg and Clarice grabs the other.

I would giggle about Nick standing as close to my head as possible, but the pain makes it impossible. I bare down the minute my belly tightens. F**k this hurts,” I say as I fall back against Trevor. You are doing so well, princessGordon says, and I glare at him as the pain hits again. I bare down again, and it feels like I’m being ripped in half. I can’t do this. It hurts too much. It’s almost over, fairy girl,” Trevor says.

Well then you push your bigheaded children out since it’s almost over, I practically growl out. I can see

Gordon is fighting the urge to smile. Nick snickers and Clarice shoots a warming glance at Trevor. Eight

more pushes and my first daughter slips out of my body. Her cries immediately fill the room. My own tears

flow down my cheeks as they set her on my belly. She is perfect. “Dad, do you want to cut the cord,”
