I Bought A Male Escort, Turns Out He's The Lycan King novel Chapter 108

**Leaves Falling Like Promises**
**By Amara Grant**
**Chapter 108**

**HUNTER**

Katerina lay still, her breathing soft and even, as I gently lifted her into my arms and carried her to her bed. The way she nestled into the covers, oblivious to my presence, felt like a small mercy. I knew that probing into the tangled emotions swirling between us would only complicate matters further. The last thing I needed was to unravel that mess right now.

Once I had slipped my clothes back on, I stepped toward the door, only to find Rivers waiting for me on the other side. My instincts flared at his presence, my beast momentarily roused before my focus sharpened on the real danger approaching. Elijah was closing in, and fast.

‘Tanner, gather everyone and bring April and her family up here immediately. He’s on the move,’ I commanded through the mindlink, my voice steady but urgent.

As I swung the door open, Rivers stood there, his gaze averted, as if he were preoccupied with thoughts that had nothing to do with me. A surge of anger coursed through me at the sight of him, but I quickly reined it in as our eyes locked. He held my gaze, unwavering, and that only fueled my irritation.

“What do you need me to do?” Rivers asked, his tone devoid of bravado.

It was a refreshing change, free from the usual arrogance or the mocking references to the omega that had been the catalyst for my loss of control. It was this restraint that allowed me to push my own feelings aside, if only for the moment.

“Can you secure the entire castle?” I asked bluntly, cutting through any fluff.

“If you can keep the Lordswoods off my back,” Rivers replied, his expression serious.

I glanced down the corridor, sensing the tension in the air. I couldn’t see who lurked around the corner, but I could hear him—Elijah’s presence was unmistakable. The scent of his magic hung heavy, and if it was anything like what had cloaked us in the cabin, then that Lordswood beta wouldn’t be able to detect us. Katerina was safe from his reach, at least for now.

A smirk tugged at the corners of my mouth, a small victory in the midst of chaos.

“Absolutely. How much time do you need?”

“If you can keep your beta occupied for at least an hour, we should be in the clear.”

I reestablished my connection with Tanner, issuing the order with a sense of urgency.

‘Rivers will handle security. No one touches him. Relay my command.’

“Nathan, I know you’re there,” Kostas growled from beyond the magical barrier. “Get these wards down and bring Katerina to me!”

A part of me was tempted to let him through. Katerina bore my scent, the air heavy with the evidence of what we had shared. Let him see that he was destined to lose. But that was a dangerous game I wasn’t ready to play just yet.

I cast my gaze down the hall toward the window that resembled the one Elijah had escaped through.

“The witness is approaching. Let her and her family in. Protect them,” I instructed, my heart heavy with the weight of unspoken fears. I wanted to say more, to insist on Katerina’s safety, but the words lodged in my throat like stones.

Once outside, I began my descent down the stone walls, feeling Tanner’s energy pulse at the end of the hallway. I masked my scent, scanning the castle grounds for any signs of danger. My agents were strategically placed, tightening the gaps in Lordswood’s security. Strangely, I couldn’t spot a single shadow guard outside.

If Christos got to Katerina first, it would mean her end, and I couldn’t let that happen.
