**HUNTER**
That bastard. That infuriating, utterly disrespectful bastard.
“I’ll take care of her, Your Majesty.”
The day had dragged on, filled with the thrill of the hunt, my hands stained with the remnants of my unfortunate prey. I had spent hours in the wild, my fists pounding against the earth, my frustration boiling over as I circled back to that damned cabin. The bond that tethered me to her was an unyielding force, pulling me toward her despite my irritation.
I had witnessed Kostas, his mouth running like a river, attempting to breach the barrier that had been so easily traversed by me just the night before. I had watched him thrash against the trees, his curses echoing through the forest, even as the magic’s backlash left him bloodied and shaken. Rivers had shifted, confronting him like two titans clashing, their powerful forms colliding until the alpha finally subdued Kostas, dragging him far from the cabin. Yet, inexplicably, when Kostas began to roam the woods again, he couldn’t find the cabin, even though it loomed right before him.
Rivers’ magic was as formidable as the enchantments surrounding Malcolm’s cabin.
All day long, my fury simmered, a relentless fire that refused to be extinguished. And then there was that ripple in the bond, that intoxicating need that only intensified my anger. My beast, confined within me since the previous night, howled in frustration, clawing at the bars of its prison. His rage eclipsed mine, battling for dominance, for control.
All this turmoil for what? For a woman who had turned her back on us? A woman who had betrayed our trust? How dare she?!
Yet, even as my anger swirled, her desire swept through me like a wildfire, weakening my resolve and sending a hot pulse racing through my veins. My body responded involuntarily, my arousal hardening as Kitty…Katerina’s lust enveloped me, even from miles away. The distance felt meaningless as her scent drifted toward me, slowly at first, then saturating the air until it consumed me.
I curled my toes into the earth, desperately trying to ground myself. But all I could envision was Kitty, moaning softly, calling my name with that sultry voice. I imagined her legs spread wide, her green eyes heavy with desire. Then, in my mind’s eye, they shifted to blue, her mouth curling into a wicked smirk, teasing me with her playful nature.
And finally, those violet eyes. Omega eyes.
They said omegas were the weakest, but an omega in heat could bring even the strongest to their knees. That intoxicating blend of submission and dominance was like a potent aphrodisiac, ensnaring even the most disciplined wolves in its grasp.
Resisting was futile. The inevitable was upon me.
And she was alone with Rivers.
That thought shattered the fragile control I had left. My beast surged forward, shifting before I could contain him, and turned toward the cabin with a singular focus. Instinct took over; my beast didn’t care about betrayal or the Lordswood bloodline. All he wanted was to comfort our mate.
As I drew closer, her scent intensified, wrapping around me like a vice. I inhaled deeply, allowing it to sear my insides, igniting my blood until it burned like an inferno. My muscles coiled tighter with each step, anticipation building to an unbearable degree. It had been far too long since I had held her, since I had tasted her sweetness.
