I Ran From My Psycho Step-brother Straight Into The Alpha's Lap novel Chapter 196

**Chapter 196**

“Scared I wouldn’t be able to pick myself up off the floor after she was through with me,” Wyatt quips, a mischievous sparkle dancing in his eyes. I can’t suppress a smile as I gaze out the window, basking in the warmth of their playful exchange. There’s an undeniable comfort in the camaraderie between them, a bond that feels as solid as steel.

“Here.” With a flourish that could rival a magician, Wyatt pulls out a crinkled brown paper bag and thrusts it into Will’s chest, a broad grin plastered on his face. “Don’t say I never gave you anything.”

Will’s face lights up like a Christmas tree as he eagerly rips open the bag, revealing a glorious cinnamon roll nestled within. “Thanks, Wyatt! You know, I think I like you better than Wendy,” he declares, a cheeky grin stretching across his face.

Wyatt snorts, shaking his head with mock disbelief. “You’re only saying that because I fed you.”

“Exactly!” Will exclaims, his mouth stuffed with the sweet, gooey treat, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

Curiosity piqued, Will turns in his seat, his expression suddenly serious. “Have you ever met our sister Wendy?”

I shake my head slowly, the mere thought of meeting her sending a ripple of apprehension through me. “I don’t know if I should,” I admit, my voice barely rising above a whisper, as if the very mention of her name could summon some unseen force.

“Why not?” he presses, tilting his head slightly, his gaze scrutinizing me with genuine interest.

“Another one of you?” I tease, raising an eyebrow. Wyatt bursts into laughter, while Will’s face morphs into a mock expression of offense.

“What if she’s like Wyatt and not like me?” Will asks, crossing his arms dramatically, as if preparing for a duel.

“Oh, that’s even worse,” I reply, maintaining a straight face, the tension breaking as Will erupts into laughter, Wyatt rolling his eyes in good-natured exasperation.

I take a careful sip from the steaming cup Wyatt handed me, the warmth soothing my frayed nerves.

Wyatt catches my gaze in the rearview mirror. “It’s tea,” he informs me, a hint of pride lacing his voice.

And it is good—really good. “Mmm, it’s delightful. I thought it would be coffee, and I was a bit worried for a moment,” I confess, the flavors swirling on my tongue like a comforting embrace.

“I know you don’t drink coffee,” he replies matter-of-factly. “It’s not American, but I know you don’t drink it.”

“Actually, tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water,” I say, allowing my inner nerd to shine for just a moment.

“That’s not true,” Will interjects, skepticism etched across his features.

“Look it up,” I challenge him, taking another sip of my tea, which truly is delicious.

“She’s right,” Will concedes, surprise coloring his tone, his eyes wide with realization.

“Of course she is,” Wyatt adds, his confidence unwavering. “But just remember, I said it’s un-American.” He flashes a grin at me through the mirror, and I can’t help but shake my head in amusement.

Before long, we pull into town, the bustling streets alive with energy and activity. “All right, Sam. Where to?” Wyatt asks, breaking the momentary silence that had settled in the car.
