Chapter 43
“The company has received inquiries from the client side,” he said. “Given the current situation, we’d like you to take a leave of absence. Just until things settle down.
“For how long?”
“We’ll see. Take some time to rest.”
“Okay.” The line went dead before I could say anything else.
I put the phone back on the table. Two information stacked like small mountains.
Silas leaned in from the side, wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and pulled me closer. His chin landed on top of my head.
“Maybe the leave is a good thing,” he said. “Gives you time to focus on clearing this up.”
I leaned into his chest for a moment. Then sat up straight. “You’re right. I’ll use this time to go through everything from start to finish. When I’m done, they’ll be begging me to come back.”
He looked down at me. His ears flicked. “That’s the owner I know.”
