Aurora’s POV

The arena looked the same as I remembered.

Same concrete walls. Same floodlights buzzing overhead. Same smell of sweat and iron that clung to the air the moment you stepped through the front gates

Last time I was here. I was fighting to clear my name.

This time, I was here for something that mattered a whole lot more.

Ever since Kane took me to see those child werebeasts, something inside me had shifted I couldn’t unsee the way they huddled in their cages, the way their eyes went flat and empty like they’d already given up on being rescued I couldn’t pretend it wasn’t happening. I couldn’t go back to the version of myself who looked the other way

So I came back.

A man met me at the entrance Middleaged, cleanshaven, wearing a pressed buttondown that looked too nice for this place. He had the kind of smile that was practiced not warm, not cold, just exactly polite enough

Ms. Aurora? I’m Jordan Blackwood. I handle administration here.He shook my hand with a firm grip. Welcome. I was told you’d be coming to look into some matters.

Thank you for accommodating me.I said

Of course. Let me give you the grand tour.

He led me through the outer areas first. The stands empty now, rows of grey seats stretching up toward the ceiling. The corridors wide, tiled. lined with framed photos of past events and sponsored banners The offices. Everything was clean. Everything was organized. Everything was exactly what you’d want an inspector to see.

This is the main event floor,Jordan said, gesturing to the open arena! We host training sessions here in the mornings. Public events on weekends.

I nodded, taking it all in, even though they are not I wanted. What about the backstage areas? The werebeast rest quarters? I’d like to see those.

Jordan’s smile didn’t change. Ah. unfortunately that section is

undergoing maintenance right now. Structural repairs. It’s not safe for

visitors at the moment.

I see.I kept my voice neutral. How long will the maintenance take?

Hard to say Could be a few days. Could be longer. He checked his watch.Shall we continue to the records room?

I nodded and followed him back the way we came.

But I’d already noticed it

At this time. I noticed that at the end of the east corridor, past the last office door, there was a heavy iron door. It was halfopen just a sliver of darkness visible behind the frame. This curious me.

What’s that place for?

A flicker of panic crossed Jordan’s face, but he quickly smiled. Oh, nothing important. Just an abandoned warehouse.

Jordan smiled and was about to lead me farther down the path when h phone rang. He pulled it out and turned away, walking a few steps off When he answered, his tone became instantly respectful and almost flattering

I watched him carefully.

Less than two minutes later, Jordan came back.

Miss Aurora, I’ve got something urgent to take care of. Feel free to look around on your own. But I really don’t recommend going near that abandoned warehouse. It’s been empty for too long. There are rats and cockroaches inside, and we haven’t had a chance to deal with them yet.

Sure. Go take care of your work.I nodded, putting on an easygoing smile.

He nodded back, then waved over a rabbit beastman.

If you need anything, just ask him. His name is David.”

I nodded

So he really was keeping an eye on me. Even when he had to leave, he made sure someone stayed behind to watch me.

But did he really think that would stop me?

I smiled to myself, then turned to the rabbit beastman.

David, could you show me where the bathroom is? My stomach hasn’t felt right since I got here. Would you mind taking me there?

I gave him a pleading look.
