I returned our home while he toured with her novel Chapter 43

Chapter 10

Jon still wouldn’t sign.

Messages everywhere. Calls. Texts. All day.

I blocked him on everything.

Alex’s face was stone. “Fine. If words don’t work, we do it the other way.”

Two weeks later, Hartwell Industries was crashing.

Jon’s dad had four affairs exposed. Scandals everywhere.

His mom got caught embezzling. Police investigation.

Alex teamed up with every small company Jon’s family had ever crushed. They burned them

together.

Even if it cost them, they made sure Hartwell paid.

The ‘great dynasty’ crumbled.

The day Jon’s mom was sentenced, his grandmother ended up in the ICU.

That same day, my divorce papers arrived at their door.

Jon’s voice was shaking when he begged to see me one last time.

Alex wasn’t taking any chances, he brought eight bodyguards just to let me walk into that meeting.

Jon looked wrecked. Gaunt. Hadn’t even bothered to shave.

But the second he saw me, his eyes lit up.

“Evie. You’re okay?” His voice was hoarse.

I touched my arm. “Getting there.”

He nodded, relief flooding his face. “Good. That’s… that’s good.”

A beat. “Listen. Can you… can you tell them to back off? The company can’t…”

I slid the papers across the table.

“Sign. I’ll talk to Alex.”

He stared at them for a second, then picked up the pen. A bitter smile tugged at his lips. “So tha’s it?

No chance at all?”

I opened my mouth…

“Jon! There you are!”

Tiffany. Running toward us, hand on her belly.

She slammed a paper on the table.

“I’m pregnant. Test it if you don’t believe me.’
