I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 22

"Ladies and gentlemen, the performance will begin shortly. Please silence your phones."

The overhead announcement snapped her back to reality.

She took a deep breath and set the playbill down.

Just then, footsteps echoed in the aisle to her left.

A man's voice rang out. "York, slow down."

Sienna's fingers tightened on her armrest.

She turned her head, inch by inch, her neck feeling as stiff as rusted iron.

Finn Fletcher walked down the aisle. He wore a dark brown suede jacket, cropped just at the waist to emphasize his long legs.

He was carrying the little boy on his shoulders.

Chloe Cross trailed right behind him in a cream-colored knit dress, her makeup utterly flawless.

Finn looked up.

Their eyes met.

Sienna caught the unmistakable flash of shock in his gaze.

Of all the places to run into each other.

He wasn't the only one stunned.

Finn's gaze swept over her face, dropped to the empty seat beside her, and flicked back to her eyes.

Front row, dead center.

And their seats...

He looked down at his ticket stubs.

Right next to hers.

Chloe followed his line of sight, and her expression instantly soured.

"Dr. Sterling?" Her voice pitched up a fraction. "What a coincidence."

"It is."

Sienna withdrew her gaze and stared blankly at the stage.

Chloe proactively lifted York off Finn's shoulders, sliding into the seat directly next to Sienna. She placed York in the middle seat, leaving the aisle seat for Finn.

Finn sat down, staring straight ahead at the stage, his posture rigid.

Even with two people between them, Sienna could still catch the scent of him.

It was the same as always—crisp, with a hint of cedar.

"Watching a play all by yourself, Dr. Sterling?"
