Georgia’s POV

I scoffed silently, the sound lost in the hum of the car’s engine. He was a lunatic. I remembered the whispers I’d overheard at charity galas from the city’s elite wives “the Salvatore boy, so brilliant, but so… unhinged.” They called him the Lunatic Son. I had dismissed it as jealous gossip. Turns out, they were being kind.

We arrived at the industrial port, the air thick with the smell of salt, diesel, and rust. A group of men in sharp, expensive suits stood waiting for us near a cavernous warehouse, looking dangerously out of place amongst the dockworkers.

Estevan met the man at the front, who was older, with silver hair and the hard eyes of a killer.

“Jovan,” Estevan said, shaking his hand.

“The ‘agricultural equipment’ has arrived on schedule,” ovan said, his voice a low rumble. “All units are in prime condition, ready for export to our partners.”

“Excellent,” Estevan replied. “Our ‘farmers’ in the south are eager to begin planting. Ensure the delivery is discreet.”

I stood back, arms crossed, my eyes scanning our surroundings, noting the bulges of weapons under the men’s jackets. This was my job now. To watch. To anticipate.

Jovan’s eyes slid over to me, an appraising, sleazy smile touching his lips. “You haven’t introduced me to your lovely companion, Estevan. Is this your girlfriend?

Estevan turned, a dry, humorless smirk on his face. “Oh how I wish,” he said, his voice dripping with a sarcasm that seemed aimed more at me than at Jovan. “My life would be far less complicated.”

Jovan laughed and extended a hand to me. “Jovan Rinaldi. A pleasure to meet you.”

I took his hand, my grip firm and brief. “Georgia Sinclair,” I said, the lie slipping out smoothly before I could even think about it. “I’m Mr. Salvatore’s new personal assistant.”

The words tasted like ash, but what else could I say? ‘I’m his bodyguard”? A five-foot-seven woma protect a six-foot-three mountain of muscle and menace? They would have laughed in my face r putting a bullet in me for the sheer insult of it.

Estevan finished his business, gave a curt nod to Jovan, and turned to me. “Let’s go.” He gave me a look walked away, an unreadable, almost amused glint in his eye. He knew I had lied, and for some reason, he was letting it slide. For now.

It was dawn by the time we arrived back at the mansion A silent butler met me at the door and handed me a key, gesturing towards a private bungalow connected to the main villa by a stone path. A place to live. where we wouldn’t share a kitchen or living room.

It was fair enough. I showered, fell into the massive, empty bed, and let exhaustion claim me, my last thought being a relieved, No work tomorrow. It’s the weekend!

But I was wrong.

I was jolted from a deep sleep by a loud, insistent knocking on my door. My heart leaped into my throat, and I scrambled out of bed, running to the door withou a single thought for what I was wearing.

I pulled it open and froze. Estevan stood there, dressed a sharp, tailored suit, looking like he owned the morning itself. His eyes, however, weren’t on my face. They slowly raked down my body, a hungry, appreciative glint in their depths, as if he were looking a dessert.

It was only then that I realized I was wearing nothing but a thin, silk pajama dress, the fabric doing absolutely nothing to hide the fact that I had no bra on ny nipples hardening in the cool morning air.

“Oh, shit,” I breathed, slamming the door shut.

It was too late. He’d already stepped inside, pushing the door open gently and walking into my living room as if he owned it, too.

“Good morning, sunshine,” he said with amusement. “Enjoy your sleep-in?”

I emerged from my bedroom a minute later, wrapped tightly in a robe, my face burning. “It’s Saturday. I thought I had the day off.”

He lounged on the couch, looking perfectly at home. “Weekends are a luxury for people who own their own time, Georgia. You don’t.” He let that sink in. “I’m paying you ten thousand a month. What did you think you were selling me? Your time is mine.”

Right. Maybe he’s right.

“The meeting was moved up,” he said calmly. “I’ve decided to finalize our business. You’re coming with me.”

My breath hitched. Another meeting with Lucas, so soon? “You’re meeting him today?”

He glanced at his ridiculously expensive watch. “You have thirty minutes to prepare. This leniency I’m showing you is a one-time courtesy. Don’t be late again.

He waited on the couch, a king in his castle, while I stood frozen inside my room, my heart pounding with panic.

Fine. I took a deep, steadying breath, the soldier in me finally taking over. Ten minutes for a shower. Ten minutes to get dressed. Ten minutes for gear and a game face.

I have time. Yes! I have time. Calm down, Georgia!

I stepped out of the room, fully dressed and ready, exade

later. Estevan calmly glanced at his Patek Philippe watch

twenty-nine minutes and forty-five second

“On time,” he noted, a hint of approval in his voice. “Impressive.”

We walked out of the bungalow together into the bright morning sun. He gave my outfit a slow, calculated once-over, and a smirk played on his lips. “I see you took my advice. You’re wearing a skirt.”

“I ran out of clean jeans,” I lied, bristling at his smug tone.

“If you say so,” he chuckled, clearly not believing a word of it.

When we arrived at the private dining room of the desinated hotel, Lucas and Kiara were already waiting. Lucas shot to his feet the moment we entered, his chair scraping harshly against the floor. His face was a thundercloud of fury, his eyes blazing as he stared at me standing beside Estevan.

“Gia,” he said, his voice tight with a jealousy he couldn’t hide,
