Georgia’s POV

My eyes widened in shock, the cold, transactional nature of his words a splash of icy water. But before I could react, the sound of the front door opening downstairs echoed up the hallway, followed by Louiella’s cheerful humming.

We both froze, instantly pulling apart, our chests heaving as we struggled to catch our breath. The spell was broken.

My checks flamed red hot. I frantically smoothed down my shirt, trying to regain some composure, avoiding his intense gaze. “L-Leave,” I stammered, gesturing wildly towards the door. “Get out.”

He smirked, leaning back against the wall, looking infuriatingly calm and satisfied. “Oh, I don’t think so,” he said with dark amusement. “I’m staying. For as long as I want to.”

My head snapped up. “What?”

My body was still droning with a tense, unwanted energy from our encounter.

Every nerve felt frayed. Sharing a room with him? Sharing a bed with him? Impossible. But how could I tell Louiella? I couldn’t shatter her happy little fantasy or make her worry.

And I wasn’t running again. This was my home. He was the intruder. I just had to make him leave, somehow, without him hurting Louiella or burning this place to the ground.

I stepped out of the bedroom, forcing a calm expression onto my face. Louiella was in the kitchen, humming as she unpacked groceries..

“Oh, there you are, hija!” she said brightly. “How is Estevan? Is he resting? Poor man must be exhausted from the journey.”

I glanced back towards the bedroom door, where I could just see him lounging infuriatingly on my bed, that damn smirk still playing on his lips. If looks could ill… I forced a smile for Louiella. “Yes,” I lied through gritted teeth. “He’s… relaxing.”

The urge to grab a kitchen knife was disturbingly strong I took a sharp breath, shaking off the dark thought, and started helping Louiella put away the groceries, needling the simple, physical task to ground myself.

“It’s only four in the afternoon, dear,” she said, placing a hand on my arm. “Why don’t you go take a little nap? You look tired too.”

I glanced at the clock on the wall. 4 p.m. Then I remembered what she’d mentioned earlier, something about dinner. Her eyes sparkled with excitement. “Oh, almost forgot to tell you properly! I invited Maria and Sofia over for dinner tonight! They are so excited to finally meet you after all these years.” Her smile widened, turning positively mischievous. “And just wait until they see your handsome fiancé! Ooh la la! We don’t get many men like that in this little town. They will be swooning!”

My heart sank, Friends? Tonight? With him here? Playing fiancé? This was escalating into a full-blown. nightmare. I needed to get him out before dinner.

I walked back towards the bedroom, steeling myself for another confrontation. The sound of the shower running stopped me just inside the door. He was in my bathroom. Taking his sweet time, I waited, pacing the small room like a caged animal.

Finally, the water shut off. A few minutes later, the bathroom door opened, and a cloud of steam rolled out. followed by Estevan. He had nothing on but a white towel wrapped loosely around his lean hips, droplets of water glistening on his tanned, muscular chest and abs.

I choked on my own saliva, my eyes widening in shock and unwilling appreciation. I spun around, my back to him, my cheeks burning. “Get dressed!”

His low chuckle vibrated through the small room. “Impatient, are we?” he purred, his voice closer now. “So, you’re ready to continue where we left off? Ready to pay your debt?”

I whipped back around, my voice a furious, choked whisper, mindful of Louiella in the other room. “Pay you what?! Why don’t you just get the hell out of my house?! Go fight your own damn wars and leave me alone!”

He placed a finger against my lips, silencing me instantly. “Sshhh…” he whispered, his eyes glancing towards the closed door. “Do you really want Louiella to hear you? Do you want to frighten the poor woman? Cause a heart attack?”

I took an involuntary step back, away from his touch, away from the manipulative threat. But he moved faster, his hand shooting out to grab my waist, pulling me hard against his damp, naked chest.

Before I could even gasp, he lifted me off my feet and tossed me onto the bed like I weighed nothing. The old mattress springs groaned in protest.

I scrambled backward on the bedspread, my eyes wide. I’ll scream,” I threatened, my voice barely a whisper.

“Then scream,” he challenged softly. “Do you think that will stop me? Do you think you can stop me?” He reached for the knot on his towel. “Besides,” he added, is voice dropping to a low, intimate purr, “we both know you want this too. You just can’t admit it yet.”

My eyes rounded in disbelief as the towel fell away. Oh my God. My mouth went dry, my mind blanking for a split second at the sheer, blatant display of his arousal of him. It was… overwhelming. Far beyond anything I had ever seen or imagined.

My voice came out as a choked, horrified whisper. “Este an… put it back on. Please. You’re not like this. You never… you never acted like this before.”

He ignored my plea, crawling onto the bed with the predatory grace of a panther. I scrambled backward again, trying to put distance between us, but he easily caught my ankle, pulling me back down until we were face to face on the mattress. His eyes burned into mine

“Don’t play the innocent virgin with me, Georgia,” he starled, his voice suddenly rough, possessive. “Don’t act like your pathetic ex-husband hasn’t touched you before.””

“Don’t you dare talk about him!” I kicked out, aiming fo his knee, but he anticipated the move, easily catching my leg and using the momentum to flip me onto my back..pinning both my legs beneath the weight of his own powerful thigh. His arms locked around my upper body, trapping me completely beneath him.

“So sensitive,” he mocked, his voice a low growl near my car. “Did I hit a nerve? Tell me, Georgia, did that weakling even know how to touch you properly?”

“What is wrong with you?!” I spat, struggling uselessly against his hold. “Get off me!”

He ignored my struggles, his gaze intense as he looked own at me. “Answer the question. Was he even a
