I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 210

“Mr. Lancaster, shall we go?”

His handsome brow furrowed even deeper, his eyes scanning the gift in my hand. “Are you going to wear that?” he asked instead of answering.

I looked down at the beautiful blue box. “Yes, why let it go to waste?”

I had checked it earlier. The necklace was an older style, but it was a classic and still beautiful.

He stood up, his dark eyes dripping with scorn. “I’ve given you far more necklaces than that. Why don’t you wear any of them?”

I looked up at him, my anger flaring into a bitter laugh. “Do you have amnesia, Steven? Have you forgotten what you said outside Myron’s company? You told me to return everything you ever gave me. I mailed it all back to you ages ago.”

Just thinking about it made me furious. I had never met such a petty man.

After our argument that day, I went back to Rachel’s and shipped everything back to him. Everything I had ever worn or used, right down to the face wash, was in that box.

Steven’s face fell, his voice suddenly low and hoarse. “You sent it back?”

“Of course I did! I sent it back a month ago,” I snapped. “Don’t tell me you never even opened the package.”

If he didn't need it, if he didn’t even know I’d returned it, then why had he been so aggressive about demanding it back in the first place?

His eyes darkened, and his lips pressed into a tight, hard line. He looked furious about something.

I couldn’t be bothered with his mood swings. I grabbed my bag. “Are we leaving or not?”

If I didn’t need him to come with me to finalize the divorce, I wouldn’t care if he stayed here all night.

His handsome face contorted with frustration. “How many times do I have to tell you? My relationship with Verna isn’t what you think. I don’t have those kinds of feelings for her.”

I let out a scornful laugh. When it came to his relationship with Verna, no one in the world—not even them—knew it better than I did.

In our past life, if I hadn’t stubbornly refused to divorce him, Verna would have become Mrs. Lancaster long ago, not just his fiancée.

Steven saw the disbelief on my face and was about to say more when his phone rang. My gaze sharpened as I heard him say, “Gordon, what is it?”

The car had been moving at a steady pace, but after a few seconds, he slammed on the brakes, pulling over to the side of a deserted road. I glanced out the window, then back at Steven. His face was a mask of pure fury.

He stared at his phone, quickly reading something. Then he looked at me, his dark eyes swirling with a dangerous, stormy rage. His handsome face looked as if it were carved from ice.

“This trending story about you cheating… Did you release this video?”
