I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 334

“It was Steven who slandered me? Why would he do that?” Ryan’s expression froze for a moment, then he turned to me and whined, “He’s so mean, ruining my reputation like that. Let’s not hang out with him.”

I couldn't help but laugh, ruffling his cute, boyish hair.

“Okay.”

Soon after, Ryan and I arrived at the auction house. Everyone was given a catalog of the auction items. The piece Leonard wanted was the third one listed. As I was reading about its origins, a familiar, sharp voice suddenly came from behind me.

“Zephyra, what are you doing here?!”

I turned to see Steven's mother standing not far away with another wealthy-looking woman.

Steven's mother clutched a designer handbag, her elegant and sophisticated outfit clashing with the ugly, livid expression on her face. Her eyes darted back and forth between me and Ryan.

The woman beside her also looked my way, a mocking smile playing on her lips.

“So this is Steven’s wife. She’s certainly got some nerve. I’ve seen people have affairs, but never so brazenly. Does Mr. Lancaster know his wife is out with another man?”

Probably feeling embarrassed, Steven's mother strode toward me, her face cold. She raised her hand to slap me, but I caught her wrist.

Ryan immediately stepped in front of me, shielding me as he glared down at her. “Who do you think you are? You touch her, you’re asking for it.”

Seeing this, Steven’s mother became even more furious, her face flushing red as she glared at me.

“Zephyra, you shameless bitch! That scandal about you and another man was embarrassing enough for the Lancaster family, and now you’re openly cavorting with someone else!”

“We divorced amicably, and I didn’t take a cent from your son. If that satisfies you, then please leave me alone. This auction is full of influential people. You don’t want to make a scene, do you?”

Ryan’s eyes were cold with displeasure. “You heard her. Now get lost.”

He didn't ask me any questions, but I figured he’d pieced things together from her words.

She clearly didn't believe me, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Didn’t take a penny from my son? Who would believe that? I know all about your pathetic background. Your father is struggling with his finances and calls the Lancaster family for help every day, yet you have the money to come to an auction and bring a boy toy along? You must have used the divorce settlement my son gave you to go have fun.”

“I can’t believe the great Lancaster family was blinded by some nobody. How much money did my son give you? You will return every last cent today! A disobedient woman like you, who disrespects her elders, talks back to her mother-in-law, and can’t even produce an heir but is happy to have an affair, doesn't deserve a single thing from the Lancaster family, not one damn…”

Before she could finish, a sharp “smack” echoed through the air!
