I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 379

"So you stole her husband, had his child, and then dumped the kid on her to raise? All while hating her and cursing her in your heart, you played the victim and begged her to feed and house you and your daughter for twenty years?"

"She took care of you like you were a queen for twenty years! Right up until the day she died, she was still thinking about you! And you have the nerve to say she walked all over you?!"

Janice looked uncomfortable, gritting her teeth. "Getting together with your father wasn't a betrayal of your mother. I was just pursuing my own love. In love, the one who isn't loved is the third wheel. I never blamed her for stealing my man. In fact, I shared him with her for twenty years. Wasn't that merciful of me?"

My mother should have thanked her for taking care of that worthless pig!

I laughed, a laugh born of pure rage. I lifted my mother's memorial tablet and smashed it across her face, sending her flying to the ground.

"Go to hell!"

Janice hit the ground hard. A large rectangular imprint was stamped on her face, and her head was ringing from the blow.

Before she could react, I was on top of her, bringing the tablet down on her again like a club.

Janice screamed in pain. The tablet was hard, and the blows made her face and nose bleed. It was a gruesome sight.

She was hysterical, screaming curses.

I was hysterical too. I hit her twenty times with the tablet, putting all my strength into every blow.

I wasn't doing it for myself. I was doing it for my mother.

After twenty hits, Janice was unconscious, her well-maintained face a swollen, bloody mess.

I stood up, clutching my mother's tablet, and looked around. I realized everyone had been watching, stunned and speechless, as I beat her.

Tears blurred my vision. I walked away, gently stroking my mother's memorial tablet, my heart aching.

Antonia cried, "Zephyra's gone, Mom. Does this mean she won't introduce me? That she doesn't want me to be Mrs. Lancaster? What are we going to do? Are we really going to end up on the streets?"

Janice shook her head, struggling to get a sentence out.

Antonia listened for a while, then whimpered, "You found out Steven's mother wants a Lopez granddaughter for a daughter-in-law? But I'm not a Lopez granddaughter. What's the point of telling me that?"

Janice gripped Antonia's hand tightly, painstakingly explaining.

Antonia's eyes lit up when she understood.

"That's right! Zephyra is back with the Lopez family now, so she must be the granddaughter they're taking back. We only just found out, so the chairwoman definitely doesn't know who it is. If I say I'm the Lopez granddaughter, she'll believe me! She'll definitely go out of her way to set me up with Steven."

"As long as I marry Steven before Zephyra officially returns to the Lopez family, then even if the lie is exposed later, what's done is done. The chairwoman won't be able to do anything to me! Mom, you're a genius—"
