I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 385

I struggled, but Steven only tightened his grip, my hand throbbing in his grasp. His face was a dark mask, his anger even more palpable than when I had confronted Verna. He seemed to be reining in a powerful rage, and without a word, he started pulling me outside.

"Steven, what are you doing?! Let go of me!"

Ryan stood frozen for a second before rushing after us. "Zephyra!"

Gordon quickly intercepted him. "Easy now. Mr. Lancaster would never hurt her!"

Ryan was genuinely furious. "That scumbag was just about to have her arrested!"

Gordon explained, "No, he wasn't. If Mr. Lancaster really wanted to call the police, he wouldn't have given the job to me. Please, trust the instincts of a top-tier executive assistant. I was just wandering around outside, pretending to be on the phone."

"??? Are you insane? Get lost!"

His impeccable upbringing was the only thing stopping him from punching Gordon. The commotion was now even louder than the earlier fight, and a waiter finally ran over to intervene.

"Please, stop! Gentlemen, calm down! The food is all ready. Why don't we have something to eat and cool off?"

"...You get lost too!"

Meanwhile, I was dragged out of the restaurant by Steven. He didn't take me far, just straight into the hotel across the street.

My heart hammered against my ribs. Why was he taking me to a hotel?!

"Steven, this is unlawful confinement! It's kidnapping! If the police show up, I'll have them arrest you first!"

The receptionist saw him and immediately greeted him with reverence. "Mr. Lancaster."

I yelled for help, and the receptionist looked on helplessly. "Mr. Lancaster?"

Steven's eyes were dark. "It's fine. We're just playing a game."

But he didn't pounce on me as I'd expected. He looked down at his hand, where I had bitten him, leaving a large, red tooth mark.

A vein pulsed in his forehead. He raised a hand and rubbed his brow, as if trying to soothe some intense pain, his eyes fixed on me with a cold glare.

"You're the one who hits, you're the one who bites. What are you yelling about?"

I shot up, grabbing a nearby vase and aiming it at him, my body tense with caution.

"I'll yell if I want to! You deserved that slap for getting in my way. And let me tell you, Steven, our divorce was all over the news. The whole world knows we're separated. I'm not your wife, and you have no right to drag me into a hotel!"

Steven took off his trench coat and hung it up casually. He poured himself a glass of liquor and took a sip before finally looking at me, his gaze sharp and accusatory.

"The divorce news, the hacker attack—that was all your doing. Pretty clever. You even managed to make me a target for online hate mobs, using public opinion against me. Zephyra, I underestimated you."

My face was a mask of cold indifference. "Glad to know it. I'm not someone you can just push around. Now let me go!"
