I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 441

I gave a cold smile. "Seeing you again is the last thing I wanted."

Steven was completely unfazed, his tone as cool as it was certain.

"Then you'll have to bear it. Get used to having me around."

I was speechless.

He was acting like a completely different person. A dark thought crossed my mind: had Verna suddenly fallen ill? Was Steven planning to harvest my organs to save his precious darling?

Not a chance in hell.

After finishing our steaks, Steven asked if I wanted to use the laptop for work. I told him I was going back to my room to handle it.

He pretended not to hear me, opened his laptop, and started working. So I splashed my water on it.

Steven looked up at me, his expression remarkably calm.

I stood before him, my gaze icy and mocking. "I said, I'm going back to my own room!"

Then I swiped his laptop off the table. It hit the floor, and the screen shattered.

"If you don't let me go, I'll smash everything in this room!"

This time, Steven stood up. I thought I'd finally provoked him into getting physical and instinctively took a step back. But instead, he scooped me up by the waist, lifted me into his arms, and placed me on the bed.

I pounded on him. "Steven!"

He pulled the covers over me, grabbed my feet, and took off my high heels. "You're tired. Go to sleep."

Without a word, I threw off the covers and tried to get out of bed, but he suddenly slid under the sheets with me. His large hand shot out, wrapped around my waist, and pulled me back with a single arm.

His broad, warm chest pressed against my back as he held me tight, pinning me to the bed.

My heart seized. We might have been husband and wife, but in this life, aside from the night I saved Horace, we had never been this close.

"Steven, let me go!"

He clicked off all the lights, his patience unshakable. "Sleep."

He suddenly kissed my ear, his control stretched to its limit. He began to coax me softly, "Zephyra, let's do it just once. Just once, okay? Hmm?"

I nearly jumped out of the bed. What a fool I was to believe any of his bullshit!

In our past life, he was the classic gentleman in a suit and a beast in the sheets—unexpectedly wild.

The Steven from my past life and the Steven of today were the same person. How could I ever trust his words?

I gritted my teeth and shook off his hand. "Who wants to do it with you? Who agreed to it? What are we to each other? Get the hell away from me!"

He stared at me, his Adam's apple bobbing, his tone uncharacteristically humble.

"Zephyra, it's been a long time. I'm a healthy, normal man. With you in my arms, I can't be a saint," his voice grew even hoarser, as if lost in a memory. He couldn't resist nibbling my ear again. "We were always so good together in bed. Don't you miss me? Hmm?"

He nibbled my ear, kissing my face as if he were possessed, treating me like a precious treasure. But I was rigid with tension, my heart constricting in panic, completely missing how strange his behavior was.

What was Steven doing?!

Was he actually trying to seduce me? Did he not grasp the concept of divorce? If he'd begged like this in our past life, fine. But in this life, we were nothing to each other. What gave him the right to treat me this way!
