Steven’s eyes were locked on mine as he took a step closer. He was tall and imposing, his presence so overwhelming that I instinctively backed away. But he pressed forward, cornering me until my back hit the cold wall, making me flinch.
The next second, Steven pulled me into his arms. His body heat was scorching against mine, but he wrapped his arm around my waist, shielding me from the cold wall with a surprisingly gentle touch.
I was completely stunned, finding it hard to believe that the man who was actively trying to ruin me and Horace could act this way. Just as I was about to speak, Steven's low, deep voice rumbled, “You're pregnant. Why did you hide it from me?”
I was completely bewildered, his words nearly scaring the life out of me.
I’m pregnant? How could I not know?
“Who's been feeding you this nonsense? It's absolute rubbish. I'm not pregnant.”
Steven gazed at my furious eyes, then his own gaze dropped. “Have you had your period in the last two months?”
Fearing he'd pester me endlessly, I lied without hesitation. “Yes, I have. It ended last week.”
“You’re lying.” Steven's lips curled into a cold smirk, a sudden certainty in his eyes.
“If you'd really gotten your period, you wouldn't have bought a pregnancy test. Zephyra, you're lying to me.”
How could he possibly know I bought a pregnancy test?!
I was utterly shocked and snapped furiously, “Bullshit! I told you, I'm not pregnant! Fine, I haven't had my period, but I've been under a lot of stress lately, so it's normal for it to be late! The test was negative, which means I'm not pregnant.”
Who the hell was spreading these rumors that I was pregnant? Did they even bother to ask me?
Steven's eyes were glacial. “Those tests aren't always accurate. You're coming with me to the hospital for a proper one.”
Three seconds later, a surge of fury washed over me. I slapped him hard across the face and started kicking and punching wildly in his arms.
“You bastard, Steven! How could you do this to me?!”
If I remembered correctly, I wasn't in my safe window that day, which was why I insisted on taking the pill. And he lied to me… he had been lying to me this whole time!
Steven was a complete scumbag, a total son of a bitch!
Steven told me to stop moving as he gently placed me in the car. His movements were incredibly careful, as if he were terrified of hurting my stomach. He supported my back completely, treating me as if I were already pregnant.
I was so furious I wanted to beat him to death, a cold, bitter laugh escaping through my gritted teeth.
“Stop daydreaming. I'm not pregnant. And even if I were—”
