I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 519

The next day, the pre-ceremony proceedings were all completed.

Rachel was my maid of honor, and Ryan was the best man, both joking around to lighten the mood.

My grandfather, Uncle Julian, Mr. Spencer, and Mrs. Spencer were all beaming with joy.

Because I had requested a low-key wedding, both my grandfather and Mr. Spencer had only invited a few relatives to join in the celebration and share the happiness.

My grandfather hadn't drank alcohol in years, but today, out of sheer joy, he insisted on having two extra glasses for my sake.

"You must treat my precious granddaughter well!" he said with a serious face. It sounded less like an entrustment and more like a warning. "If my granddaughter feels wronged in any way, we will hold you accountable."

Mr. and Mrs. Spencer quickly agreed, and Julian also maintained a stern expression. He was a man of few words in front of others, and no matter how much he admired Horace, his eyes held a hint of warning.

"You must treat her well! Don’t let her suffer any grievance."

Horace, dressed in a fine suit, had a wide smile on his handsome face, his eyes sincere and earnest. "I will. I will never hurt Zephyra."

Ryan tried to smooth things over, telling the two elders they were being too serious. He winked at me and whispered, "Zephyra, it's time for you and Horace to exchange vows and rings."

Horace looked at me. Traditionally, the groom would say his vows first, but I spoke up. "You've always been the one proposing and sharing your heart with me. This time, let me go first."

Horace raised an eyebrow, a fond smile on his face. "Alright."

I stood there in my white wedding dress, my makeup exquisitely done, and looked at him with a wide smile, my dimples showing.

"I've always been a very stubborn and boring person. I have a sharp tongue and a bad temper, and I've probably offended people all over the world. You're the complete opposite. You're gentle, calm, kind, and emotionally intelligent. You've always protected me and indulged me."

"I think, this time, let's protect each other!" I took out the ring I had custom-made for Horace—my surprise for him—and my eyes sparkled as I looked at him.

"Life is a long journey, Horace. Are you willing to walk with me, from youth to old age, on a path where we never part and never forsake each other?"

As my words faded, everyone in the room was covering their mouths, beaming with joy.

Rachel smiled through her tears.

Horace's gaze was fixed on me, the smile on his handsome face unstoppable. I waited for him to say yes, and then we would proceed with the birthday celebration and make a vow for eternity. But just as he was about to speak, there was a loud "bang!"

The chapel doors were kicked open.

Everyone frowned and turned to look at the entrance.

The security guards acted quickly, moving to handle the situation. But as they approached the entrance, they were forced back several steps.

Only Steven's handsome and indifferent face remained impassive as he lifted his head slightly.

His eyes locked onto me, and his tone was incredibly casual.

"Are you coming to me, or am I coming to you?"

What was Steven doing? Crashing the wedding? Or did he think those words could threaten me? Such theatrics. What made him think he could succeed?

My face instantly darkened, and I glared at Steven. Just as I was about to speak, Horace placed a hand on mine.

He stepped in front of me, and though I couldn't see his face, I could hear the coldness in his voice.

"Mr. Lancaster, if you're here to attend the wedding, please take a seat. If you're here to cause trouble, I suggest you don't embarrass yourself."

Julian also looked at Steven, his brow furrowed. But since it was a wedding, he restrained his temper.

"If you're here to celebrate with us, you're welcome. But if you want to play rough, the Lopez family won't stand for it, no matter how many people you bring."

The Spencers looked uncomfortable and also stood up, and though they didn't speak, it was clear they were trying to maintain order.

"Don't be nervous, Uncle Julian. I'm not here to ruin the wedding," Steven said, his lips curling into an extremely sarcastic smile, his gaze still locked on me. "I'm here to take my wife home. And to bring a piece of news to the Lopez family. I mean no harm—"
