I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 594

From now on, I just wanted to be on my own.

“Even?” A cold laugh escaped Steven’s lips. “Barely, I suppose. But what if I insist on keeping you? What can you do?”

I didn’t understand what he meant. Seeing that he was completely unreasonable, I started screaming for help, shouting and struggling, but no one appeared.

My suitcase, which had tumbled down the stairs, was already gone. A chill spread through me, creeping up my spine.

Was Steven really going to break my legs?

“Steven, you can’t do this to me! It was you who wronged me! You were the one who went to great lengths to divorce me, to tell me to get lost! Now that I’m getting far away, you’re not happy. You’re forcing me to stay, forcing me to sleep with you. You can’t have it both ways!”

“Am I not allowed to have a temper? Am I not allowed to hate you? What’s wrong with wanting to leave you? You bastard! You animal! If you dare break my legs, I will never be finished with you!”

Steven’s pace didn’t slow. His eyes held only a dark coldness, the curve of his lips as sharp and piercing as an icy needle.

“You won’t get another chance. I told you, you should have killed me instead of holding back. You knew I was reborn, you had already decided to team up with the Brooks family. You should have played a bigger game, helped them swallow the Lancaster family whole until you drove me into bankruptcy, until I could never get back up again. But now, all you’ve done is steal one project from me.”

“The one thing I don’t lack is the ability to make money. Just taking one project, tripping me up a little… besides infuriating me, what did you think you could change?”

My eyes widened in shock. He had so calmly exposed our past life, even revealing that he knew I was aware of his rebirth. My anger was eclipsed by sheer astonishment.

“You… you knew everything?”

I thought at most he knew I was retaliating for what happened in our past life.

I never imagined he knew that I knew he had been reborn.

How did he know? And if he knew everything, why did he let me do it?

I laughed, a wild, unrestrained sound.

I remembered lying alone on a hospital bed in my past life, watching a beautiful, perfectly matched couple on the screen, feeling the heartache, the powerlessness, the humiliation of unrequited love. The thought that Steven was now fated to experience the same thing was so amusing that I laughed until tears streamed down my face.

“Steven, the tables have turned. It’s your turn to taste the bitterness of wanting something you can never have.”

I would never allow my heart to lean toward him again, not even for a second!

He had to suffer the same pain I did!

Steven’s steps suddenly halted on the dim staircase.

“How do you know I haven’t tasted that bitterness before?” His eyes, bloodshot and intense, were fixed on me. “Zephyra, the one I’ve always loved is you. It was you in every lifetime. Unrequited love… I know it better than you ever will—”
