I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 605

Rachel stared at Verna’s innocent, beautiful face as huge tears began to stream down her own. She ripped her arm from Verna’s grasp, her expression a mask of regret and terror.

“Yes, I want to be with Horace, but I never wanted Zephyra to die! She’s my friend!”

“You keep saying you know the future, that you're the heroine who can change things, but from where I'm standing, you look more like the villainess!”

Verna’s face stiffened. “You—don’t be ungrateful!”

“If you truly considered Zephyra a friend, you never would have worked with me. If you hadn't shared her location with me, how would I have been able to intercept her here?!”

“Such a hypocrite! Fine, if you want to die, I won’t stop you. But you listen to me: no matter who asks, you are not to mention that I came looking for Zephyra. You take this secret to your grave!”

“Otherwise, not only will I not help you save Horace, but I will destroy you and your father! Besides, if you rat me out, you’ll drag yourself down with me.”

“Think about it, Rachel. If your name is connected to Zephyra's death, I imagine not only Mr. Lancaster, but Horace probably wouldn't forgive you either, would he? You’d better weigh your options carefully!”

After her tirade, Verna immediately put on her mask and left, practically beaming with excitement.

Rachel’s face grew even paler, almost translucent. She stumbled toward the broken edge of the bridge. The deep water below was stained with blood, a horrifying sight.

Panic seized her completely. She collapsed to her knees, sobbing, as several bystanders rushed to hold her back, afraid she might jump.

“Zephyra…” Rachel wailed hysterically, her eyes filled with agony. “How can I save you, Zephyra? I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry…”

At the hospital.

Steven rushed in just as Mr. Lancaster Sr. was being settled into a hospital room.

“They asked me about your… enemies. They need to build a profile of potential suspects. I only mentioned some of your business rivals. As for Madam… I’m not sure if we should include her name?”

Steven’s handsome face was devoid of warmth. He remained silent.

Gordon’s expression grew heavy as he glanced at the unconscious Mr. Lancaster Sr. in the bed.

“Madam was truly ruthless this time. It wasn't just the overseas project; the bid details were also leaked. She conspired with the Brooks family against you. If you hadn't had a backup plan, this would have been a disaster.”

“And now the chairman has been hurt… I don’t suppose you had a chance to check Madam's phone, Mr. Lancaster? Did she send a message to your grandfather? If that's true, and her name is given to the police, she could become a person of primary interest.”

Steven gently placed his grandfather’s hand down and tucked the blanket around him. His eyes turned ice-cold, his voice terrifyingly hoarse.
