At that, Gordon immediately reached out to grab Queena.
She struggled, refusing to leave. “Let go of me! I’m not going back! I want to be with Steven.”
Gordon held her tight as she thrashed on the floor, her hands gripping the edge of the table for dear life. His brows knitted together as he used all his strength to haul her to her feet and start dragging her toward the door.
Refusing to give in, Queena yanked the tablecloth, sending the entire meal crashing to the floor in a mess of shattered plates and steaming food.
Fortunately, Steven and Ryan were far enough away that the hot soup didn't splash on them.
Steven’s face instantly darkened. Seeing his expression, Gordon tightened his grip and forcibly dragged Queena to the doorway.
Still, Queena wouldn’t give up, screaming, “Let me go! Steven, I’m the only one who deserves you! We’re the ones who should be together!”
My head was splitting. Even without her past life’s memories, her manic energy was just as intense as Verna’s, always going on about what “should be.”
There’s no “should be.” I believe you have to fight for what you want.
Gordon dragged Queena farther away, her voice gradually fading until I couldn’t hear it anymore. Only then did I let out a sigh of relief.
Ryan glared at Steven. “What exactly is going on between you and Queena?” he demanded.
Steven’s expression was calm as he replied coolly, “Nothing.”
A mocking smile spread across Ryan’s face. “Nothing? Then why would she come looking for you? Steven, do you take me for a fool?”
Steven’s expression didn't change. “Aren’t you?”
I watched Ryan’s face flush red with anger. Seeing he was about to lunge, I quickly stepped out. “Stop it, both of you!”
I looked at Steven. “What are you going to do about Queena?”
Before, I wasn't sure how she felt about Steven, but now that I knew she was obsessed with him, I had to be careful. If she could find out about Verna, it wouldn’t take her long to find out about me.
At my question, Steven’s expression softened slightly. “I’ll send her abroad and make sure she never comes back.”
I was still worried. “But how did she get back this time?”
“Her family was watching her last time,” Steven said confidently. “This time, I’ll have my own people keep an eye on her.”
Hearing him say that eased a lot of my anxiety.
Normally, I would have stayed at Steven’s for a while, but after everything with Queena, I wasn't in the mood. I took Ryan and went straight home.
