I was about to turn off my phone, but the message made my blood run cold.
I stared at the text for a long time, making sure I wasn't seeing things.
The person who really killed me?
In my past life, I remembered dying from illness brought on by alcoholism after I lost my child.
I had all those memories, so how could someone have killed me?
Just as I was lost in confusion, another message popped up: “Do you really want to stay in the dark, a fool who knows nothing?”
My brow furrowed as the image of myself lying in a cold hospital bed from my past life surfaced in my mind.
Back then, I was filled with endless terror. After my rebirth, I'd deliberately avoided that memory, to the point where even hearing the word “hospital” filled me with dread.
Seeing Horace’s messages, I couldn't remain calm. I didn't want the memories of my past life to be an unsolved mystery.
Just then, Steven must have sensed something was off. He sat up slightly and asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?”
I put my phone down and said nonchalantly, “It's nothing. You were just holding me too tight.”
I wasn't going to let Steven know about this. If he found out I was going to see Horace again, he would be furious. I planned to slip out for a quick visit and come right back.
At my words, Steven immediately loosened his grip. “Is that better?”
I nodded without another word, but my mind was racing, trying to figure out what Horace wanted to tell me.
The next morning, I rushed to the hospital without even stopping for breakfast.
I took the glass from his hand and immediately set it aside. The memory of him drugging me was still fresh, and I couldn't bring myself to trust him completely anymore.
The baby in my belly was mine, but it was also Steven’s. I was worried Horace might do something rash in a moment of impulse.
Horace gave a bitter smile. “What, you won’t even take something from me now?”
It wasn't that I wouldn't, but that I didn't dare.
I cut straight to the chase. “What is this truth you wanted to tell me?”
Horace looked at me intently. “Steven was the one who killed you in your past life.”
I felt like I’d been plunged into icy water. I immediately denied it. “Horace, I know you don’t like Steven, but I have my memories of my past life. I know exactly how I died.”
