Nora took them and was surprised to find two different styles of women's pajamas. The fabrics were incredibly soft, and the price tags hadn't even been removed. She blinked. "When did you get these?"
Xander smiled, adjusting his glasses. "When I called my mom tonight to tell her we were coming over, she had them prepared immediately."
He then pulled out a set of men's pajamas for himself.
"How did she know my size?" Nora asked in amazement.
"My mom just has an eye for these things," Xander replied.
Nora nodded, clutching her pajamas as she slipped into the en-suite bathroom. Standing in the confined space, the nerves fluttered in her stomach again. Soon, the sound of running water filled the room.
She couldn't stop wondering what Xander was doing outside.
She hurried through her shower. When she emerged, Xander had already changed into his pajamas and was sitting in a chair reviewing some documents. His hair was slightly damp, indicating he had already bathed as well. Nora paused. "You showered?"
He looked up, his gaze darkening slightly. "Yeah, in the guest room next door."
She swallowed hard, unsure of what else to say, and slowly walked over to the bed.
Xander pulled back the duvet on one side. "I warmed up the bed. Get in."
Nora froze for a second before slowly climbing in and pulling the covers up. It was a massive king-sized bed, leaving plenty of space between them, yet she could distinctly feel the heat radiating from his side, accompanied by the clean, faint scent of his body wash.
Sitting up against the headboard, Nora hesitated. "I haven't dried my hair yet."
He turned his head toward her. The warm, amber glow of the bedside lamp cascaded over his sharp, handsome features. His eyes were incredibly deep and gentle, yet swirling with an emotion she couldn't quite decipher.
"Nora," he said, his voice dropping into a husky register. "You don't need to be nervous. If you aren't ready, I won't do anything. We are married, but you set the pace for everything. I'm not in a rush."
His tone was dead serious. It wasn't a test; it was a promise. He was assuring her that she held all the power, and he was more than willing to wait until the day she was entirely ready.
Looking at him, a soft smile graced her lips. She suddenly realized just how deeply she had misjudged Xander in the past.
He respected her every choice. He understood boundaries perfectly. When he entered her world, he didn't crash through the walls; he waited patiently, inch by inch, until she opened the door herself.
All of her nerves evaporated. Propping herself up slightly, she leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.
