"This is for your meddling hands!"
"This is for your wandering eyes!"
"This is for almost getting us all killed!"
This time, it wasn’t just Charlotte Carter and Lily Holloway; even their leader, Samson Sharp, joined the "slap brigade"!
The three of them surrounded Larry Olsen, raining slaps down on him. The relentless SMACKING filled the air.
Larry Olsen: ...
Poor Larry Olsen couldn’t even get a single, complete word out.
He was slapped dizzy, his cheeks visibly swelling until his face resembled a classic "pig head."
He could only let out muffled whimpers, whether in protest or begging for mercy, no one could tell.
...
Inside the Aberrant Rock Bug’s mouth.
Seraphina Sullivan keenly felt the vibrations beneath her grow unusually violent and chaotic.
It was no longer the rhythmic peristalsis of movement; instead, it felt frenzied and erratic.
"Boss Sullivan, did you hear that?" Simon Holt also sensed something was wrong, cocking his ear to listen.
His voice was laced with tension. "Outside... there’s a huge commotion out there! It sounds like... a lot of people fighting, and roars from tons of monsters!"
Seraphina wasn’t deaf. Of course she’d heard it.
The sound filtered through the bug’s thick muscles and layers of mimicked rock. Though muffled, she could still tell it was the clamor of a massive, chaotic battle.
Then, a second later, as if answering their unspoken questions, the bug’s massive, tightly sealed mouth suddenly cracked open!
A blinding light and a deafening roar instantly flooded in.
Simon Holt and Seraphina Sullivan instinctively peered through the gap, and the scene before them instantly made them hold their breath.
They found themselves in the middle of a surging tide of aberrant monsters!
All around them, in every direction, were twisted, grotesque, foul-smelling irradiated creatures.
They let out earth-shattering roars, moving with a demonic frenzy.
All of them were making a desperate charge toward a single, common target.
And that target... was a colossal tree, so vast it defied imagination.
A vast, ancient, twisted face on the trunk—one that seemed to be a fusion of countless agonized visages—was coldly "gazing" down at the ant-like attackers swarming below.
Seraphina Sullivan: "?? "
’How did we end up in front of the boss in the blink of an eye?’
Simon Holt: "!!!"
’Holy crap! We fell right into a monster den?! Am I really going to die this time?!’
What was even more alarming was the sight of numerous Players mixed in with the charging horde of aberrant monsters!
However, Seraphina noticed that these Players had vacant eyes, fanatical expressions, and stiff, robotic movements. They completely disregarded their own defense.
Like marionettes, they fearlessly swung their weapons and unleashed their Skills at the giant tree, as if their sole purpose in life was to attack.
’These people... are they being controlled?’ Seraphina immediately noticed a faint, spiraling mark glowing with a weak red light on these Players and some of the monsters. It flickered in and out of sight.
’So, the Aberrant Rock Bug is also under Control, which is why it’s charging so violently onto the battlefield? Did it just carry us straight to the final showdown?’
Seraphina instantly pieced everything together and cursed her rotten luck.
