Flora Sullivan was ecstatic; this was her first time experiencing flight.
Her vine-like hair danced lightly in the morning breeze.
Her eyes curiously scanned the rapidly passing ruins below and the tide of zombies that flowed like a black river toward the explosion.
"Don’t be scared, Flora! Julian is a real pro at this!"
Coco Sullivan floated over to Flora Sullivan’s side.
She seemed to genuinely like this cute girl with the special Ability.
She had completely cast aside Trevor Tanner, who had been trying to get her attention, and was now striking up a conversation with Flora Sullivan.
While in Seraphina Sullivan’s Space, besides combat training, Seraphina had intentionally taught Flora a great deal about human society.
Of course, Seraphina had sourced all this knowledge from TV dramas and social skills guides.
Now, faced with Coco Sullivan’s enthusiasm, she wasn’t the least bit intimidated.
She imitated the tone and topics of girls chatting on TV, covering everything from "pet care tips" to "complaining about the instance environment."
She managed to carry the conversation surprisingly well, making Coco Sullivan giggle nonstop.
And so, under Julian Shaw’s Gravity Control, the group of seven streaked across the dawn sky like a silent aerial task force.
They flew rapidly toward the crash site, which was still spewing flames and billowing thick smoke.
Using Julian Shaw’s [Gravity Control] for flight was much faster than walking.
Before long, the group was approaching the area of the plane crash.
The air here was filled with the pungent smell of something burning, and an... indescribable, foul stench.
Below, the industrial zone was in ruins.
The wreckage of the crashed plane was still burning fiercely, having ignited the surrounding buildings and facilities.
But what truly drew their eyes was not the horrific crash scene itself, but the hair-raising spectacle unfolding near the wreckage.
"Wh... What the hell is that thing?!"
Trevor Tanner’s exclamation carried an unconcealable tremor.
In truth, he didn’t need to shout; everyone, including the usually calm Sean Chandler and Dustin Sullivan, was stunned by the sight before them.
At the edge of the burning ruins, a zombie of extremely bizarre form was letting out a low, continuous roar.
Its body wasn’t the rotten flesh of a normal zombie, but rather an irregular, semi-transparent, dark crystalline structure.
It was as if it were formed from the aggregation of countless tiny black crystals.
This was clearly the special zombie that had roared before the plane crash.
Let’s tentatively call these crystals the "crystalline core."
And at this moment, with this "crystalline core" at the center, hundreds upon thousands of normal zombies, drawn by the explosion and the roar, were swarming toward it like iron filings to a magnet!
But they weren’t attacking it.
Once the approaching normal zombies reached a certain range around the "crystalline core," their bodies were dismantled and twisted as if by an invisible force, and then—spliced on!
Yes, spliced!
It wasn’t fusion, but rather like building blocks; zombie after zombie was forcibly pulled, deformed, and then "assembled" seamlessly around the core.
Some zombies became the muscle fibers and bones of a massive arm.
Some turned into protective bone plates on the torso.
Some were even twisted into the joints connecting the limbs...
Trevor Tanner was so flabbergasted he was practically tongue-tied. The scene before him completely shattered his perception of zombies.
