The man who was attacked was none other than Connor Webb.
Faced with the sudden, lethal attack,
his face showed no panic. Instead, a disdainful and cruel sneer spread across his features.
"Get lost, you piece of trash!"
Connor Webb barked, sidestepping with surprising agility.
He not only dodged the clumsy, artless stab with ease,
but he also followed through with a vicious kick to his attacker’s abdomen.
"UGH!" The attacker let out a muffled grunt. His body flew backward like a sack of potatoes, knocking over several people in the line and causing a wave of screams.
He wasn’t done yet.
Moving like a phantom, Connor Webb surged forward. Before his assailant could even hit the ground, he had snatched the metal shard from his hand. A cold glint flashed in his eyes as he ruthlessly stabbed back without a moment’s hesitation!
"ARGH—!!!" A blood-curdling scream echoed through the entrance as blood instantly stained the ground red.
The conflict had escalated, and blood had been spilled in an instant.
"Stop! What’s happening?!"
Laura Lowell’s expression changed drastically. She immediately cut off her communication.
The mechanical devices floating around her swiveled in unison, aiming at the center of the conflict, emitting a low hum and targeting beams.
She rushed over.
Seraphina Sullivan’s attention was also drawn to the sudden, bloody clash.
She had long been curious about the strange, miniature machines surrounding Laura Lowell.
She had assumed they were a part of Laura’s own Talent Ability.
Now, as Laura moved, she subconsciously activated her [Eye of Resume] and scanned her.
Only to find that the other woman was not a Player.
’Not a Player?’ Seraphina thought, her heart stirring.
’So, are these amazing machines "items" or "equipment" that other Players brought back from dungeon worlds, which were then collected, studied, and even mass-produced by the base to be issued to important non-combat personnel?’
This discovery gave Seraphina a new understanding of the Central Base’s technological level and resource integration capabilities.
Not only could they build those Sky Fortresses that looked straight out of science fiction, but they could also put high-tech creations from dungeons to practical use to some degree.
Their foundation was truly profound.
Of course, it was also possible these were surveillance devices created by someone else’s Ability.
But there was no time to dwell on it.
Everyone’s attention was fixed on the bloody conflict at the entrance.
Such a vicious attack and counter-killing right at the gates of the Central Base would have severe repercussions.
Laura Lowell rushed to the scene, her face ashen. "What’s going on?!" she demanded sharply. "Where are the on-duty law enforcement officers?! Why wasn’t this conflict stopped immediately?!"
However, she quickly realized something was wrong.
Several members in the base’s law enforcement uniforms, who should have been maintaining order nearby, were standing frozen in place like statues.
Their eyes were wide with terror, sweat beaded on their foreheads, and their bodies trembled slightly, yet they were completely unable to move.
