Across THE Prima Indifferentia, in regions that had no fixed location because location was a differentiated concept, storms of proto-matter raged with intensity that drew the attention of things that should not have been capable of attention.

Noah’s body was carried through these erupting storms, tossed and flung across undefined space by currents of potential that seemed to have been spurred into activity everywhere he passed. His sense of self blurred at the edges. His memories became less certain. His name felt like something he had heard once but couldn’t quite recall.

But at his most undifferentiated, at the moment when it seemed like he would become just another cautionary tale of an entity who had ventured too deep and lost themselves to the proto-matter...
