Noah read the prompts as they integrated into his awareness, each one painting a fuller picture of who Beowulf actually was beneath that intimidating armored exterior. A being who had sacrificed so much for power that he could no longer experience simple pleasures. A being whose advancement depended on others rather than his own capabilities. A being whose rage masked insecurities that would have been pathetic if they were not so dangerous.
And while Noah absorbed this information, he was weakening Beowulf without that being’s knowledge.
Every Singularity that flowed from the Primordial Architect into Noah represented something being lost. Not enough to notice immediately, perhaps not enough to notice for a while, but the extraction was occurring nonetheless. Beowulf was becoming lesser while Noah was becoming greater, and the Primordial Architect had no idea this transaction was taking place.
It would be even easier for him in this battle if he could stall for somewhat longer.
So he continued.
"Your Civilizational Anchor is fascinating, Beowulf. ’I am the weapon. The weapon is me.’ Such absolute declarations, yet they contain such obvious vulnerabilities."
Noah watched as the armored figure stiffened at words that should have been impossible for anyone outside his own existence to know.
"You did not forge your Proterozoic Bone yourself. You required Horus to provide methodology... For all your bluster about Armed Existence, you could not even arm yourself without assistance."
The rage radiating from Beowulf intensified to levels that pressed against everything within range!
"And then there is the matter of your limitations."
Noah’s voice became almost conversational in its cruelty.
"Beowulf, the grand Primordial Armor, actually feels insecure that your Civilization and nature make it so you cannot procreate or enjoy carnal pleasures. So you simply like to watch other lifeforms enjoy carnal pleasures every now and then."
He paused to let those words sink in.
"Is this part of why you are so angry? I can speak more about this and other things for all of Observable Existence to hear, or you can do what I asked and sit the fuck back for a second."
His eyes met the invisible gaze behind that armored helm.
"Can you do that? I need to check on something else first, and then we can continue."
HUUM!
His words were heavy and terrifying, declarations that should have been impossible, revelations that should have remained hidden for eternity. Behind the armored head of Beowulf, invisible eyes burned with unfathomable light of rage that pressed against the boundaries of what that form could contain.
But Beowulf raised his hammer and held it still.
He stared at Noah with menace that promised violence beyond imagination. His aura continued spreading through the surroundings, placing everything in the nearby gigaparsecs under his control, establishing dominance over the battlefield in preparation for the moment when he would no longer be constrained. His rage did not diminish. His hatred did not lessen.
But for now, he did not make a move against Noah.
Shockingly, he gave that second.
And in that second, Noah could stretch it toward Infinity.
He closed his eyes calmly as he grasped his Spear of Civilization, its crystalline shaft humming against his palm with authority that had just deflected a Proterozoic attack. He focused on his Quintessence Infiniforce, on the portions of it that continued to act as pathways for obscene amounts of Observable force flooding into his existence. He traced those pathways back toward their source, linked his existence through them, and called out.
"O Secretive Eon."
HUUM!
His voice was heavy with authority that pressed through the Quintessence Infiniforce connection.
Nothing happened for a moment.
He was about to call again when the pathways began to illuminate with golden light that eclipsed even the Observable force flowing through them. The portion of his existence he sent through those pathways was met with another presence, and they both disappeared into a single instant of Infinity.
His vision changed.
Part of his consciousness found itself moving between endless weavings of Observable, traveling through channels that existed outside normal space, passing through barriers that should have been impenetrable. The journey lasted no time at all and an eternity simultaneously, the paradox of Infinity making both statements equally true.
He appeared in a place that defied easy expectation.
Domain Entry: Isolated Sanctuary between Observable and Unobservable.
Unobservable Boundary Pressure is active. All unauthorized existences experience foundational strain within this zone.
Immunity Triggered: Quintessence Infiniforce has granted temporary authorization.
An illusory version of his body materialized within an isolated domain that measured only a mile in diameter. Green grass covered the ground in vibrant carpets that should not have existed given the swirling Unobservable weavings pressing against the domain’s boundaries. A simple white hut stood at the center, humble and unremarkable.
This was a sanctuary hidden between Observable and Unobservable!
Noah observed THE Primordial Paradox first.
