Chapter 5094: What Gives You The Right?! I

<Exerpt from an Echoes of THE First Cause>

"The adversity that breaks all others shall forge him. The hardship that ends all paths shall begin his. The Scales demand what the Scales demand, and he shall pay in currencies that have not yet been minted.

Three times shall he face the mirror of undoing. Three times shall he choose between becoming and unbecoming. Three times shall the answer be the same, and three times shall the answer be different.

In the end, which is also the beginning, the Infinite shall stand before the Undefined. And only one shall remain to tell the tale that no one shall hear.

This is an Echo of First Cause.

This is what shall come to pass, for it has already passed, and it shall pass again.

The wheel turns. The river flows. The question echoes.

He shall be the answer, or he shall be nothing.

Or he shall be the question that ends all answers."

---

There exists a term for those who find pleasure in pain.

Algophilist!

From the word algos, meaning pain, and philos, meaning lover. One who loves suffering. One who seeks agony not as means to an end but as the end itself. The sensation of hurt becomes indistinguishable from the sensation of joy, and they pursue both with equal fervor because to them, both are the same.

Noah Osmont...was not an algophilist!

---

Silence.

All of existence turned silent as for the first time, Noah became the target of a Pulse of The Scales. THE Silurian Light touched him, and in that instant, he understood what Alexander had felt when Beowulf tortured him across millions of subjective years. Every Existential Nociceptor within his existence activated simultaneously, every pain receptor screaming with immensity and entered territories that most beings couldn’t survive experiencing.

Pain.

Real pain. Not the cycles of destruction and rebirth that Grimvault’s weapon had provided. Not the shattering and reforming that THE Crucible of Observable Rebirth had transformed into fuel for advancement. This was something else entirely, agony that existed at the level of causality itself, suffering that came from having your very existence told it should never have been.

And Noah defiantly felt all of it.

He didn’t defend or retreat. He didn’t channel Infinity or Observable force to resist what was happening. He wanted to feel this. He wanted to understand what a Pulse truly was, what it meant to have something derived from a Cause deployed against your existence. So he opened himself to the pain and focused through it with clarity that his previous transformations had provided.

His existence bellowed toward the Pulse in defiance.

What are you? What do you stand for?

HUUM!

The answer came in sensation. He felt himself being stared down by an unfathomable imperious gaze of endless potential, a presence so vast that his perception couldn’t find its edges. This was a Cause.

THE Silurian Cause itself, the First Ember that had ignited Observable Existences into being across the vastness of reality. The Pulse he faced was drawing power from that originating force, and when an entity was targeted by such a thing, they felt the immensity behind it.

The immensity of THE Silurian Cause.

It seemed that one could feel it and experience a semblance of it only when targeted for complete erasure. In that moment of tremendous pain, Noah understood what THE Silurian Cause actually was.

It was fire before fire existed. It was ignition before anything could burn. It was the spark! It had birthed Observable Existences, had provided the template for reality, had established the foundations upon which all current existence stood.

And it wanted him gone.
