Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse novel Chapter 5251

Chapter 5251: Persevere! II

One at first, then three, then a dozen, then dozens, the obsidian-gold carapaces of large crabs breaking the sand surface and hauling themselves upright in the golden bloom light, each one the size of a large table, their eyes and bodies glittering with Seidr Source light that brightened as the Illumination Flowers above reached their full bloom.

The crabs looked around.

They looked at each other.

Then one of them raised a claw.

What followed could only be described as a dance.

It started with the one who had raised the claw, the movement rhythmic and deliberate, the claw dropping and rising in a pattern that carried the specific quality of something practiced rather than improvised.

Then the crab beside it picked up the pattern and added its own claw motion, the two of them locked into the same rhythm. Then three more joined. Then ten. Then all of them, dozens of obsidian-gold crabs on the dark beach moving in synchronized sequence, claws rising and falling in staggered waves, bodies shifting sideways in the specific two-step that crabs executed when moving, the whole assembly producing a coordinated spectacle that was genuinely terrible to classify using any existing vocabulary!

HUUM!

Around them, as the dance progressed, their Seidr Sources began to resonate.

Tendrils of obsidian Infinity and Observable Force extended between the dancing crabs and connected their Source expressions, the shared rhythm producing a shared amplification, each crab’s Seidr vapor thickening slightly from the energy circulating through the synchronized group. The dance was not decorative. It was cultivation!

Whatever this ritual produced for them, they performed it every time the Illumination Flowers bloomed, and they had been performing it long enough that they were very good at it!

Noah watched them.

Eon watched them beside him with incredulity.

Noah looked closer as Infinity provided him waves of information!

Source Creature Identification: Seidr Crater Crabs.

First Demarcation. Long-term residents of THE Source Lands’ coastal regions. Highly social, which in most environments would be considered a charming quality. In THE Source Lands, it primarily means there are more of them than one would like.

Behavioral Note: Seidr Crater Crabs are among the few species in THE Source Lands that have developed cooperative survival strategies rather than simply eating each other until one remains.

Ritual Analysis: The synchronized movement you are observing is designated THE Bloom Rite. Performed exclusively during Illumination Flower cycles, the Rite functions as a collective Source resonance amplification, the Seidr vapor of each participating individual interlinking with adjacent participants to form a temporary shared Source network. The rhythm is not arbitrary. Precise timing between participants is required for the resonance to accumulate rather than cancel. The crabs have had a very long time to practice. They are, objectively, better at this than most things one will encounter here are at anything.

Effect: Each completed Bloom Rite cycle increases participant Satiety by approximately 4% and marginally densifies individual Seidr vapor expression for a duration following the Rite. The communal nature means a lone Seidr Crater Crab gains nothing. This has not stopped lone Seidr Crater Crabs from attempting the dance. It is among the saddest things in THE Source Lands.

Threat Assessment: Moderate. The Seidr Crater Crab’s primary offensive capability is its claws, which are stronger than they appear, and its secondary offensive capability is that there are dozens of them and they are watching you right now.

They noticed you some time ago when you noticed them. They chose the dance anyway.

...!

It was a ridiculous thing to see, but it was grand!
