Chapter 5303: Attendants and Orders II

Morgana listened to this with her eyes on the monolith’s surface, watching the information flow through it.

She moved the information to its appropriate position in her ongoing assessment and turned to the next monolith without pausing.

It was already buzzing.

The information it released carried the signature of the Acedia division.

"Results of the Existential Acedia Ordnance deployment on the lower Observable Existence. Causal Stilling confirmed across full survey range. Dredge conversion estimated above ninety nine percent of prior population. The Source Lifeform and the Relictus of Infinity operating in the lower Observable Existence are not among confirmed casualties. The domain is stable and ready for analysis."

...!

Not among confirmed casualties.

The Source Lifeform. The Relictus of Infinity!

Morgana stood with this information for a moment, not because it surprised her but because she was being thorough, processing the gap between the intended outcome and the confirmed outcome.

She had known the Source Lifeform was a variable. A Source Lifeform choosing to involve themselves was not something...normal.

The Relictus of Infinity on the other hand...was unique.

"Arrange a Legion," she said, her voice carrying into the monolith stream with the flat precision of a being delivering instructions they had already fully formed before opening their mouth. "Led by a few Fourth Scale Gilded Ones. Go through everything down there. No surprises this time."

The monolith carried the command.

It would be followed.

She turned back to the other streams, the information flowing through the domain around her in its continuous currents, the Aurum Primalis conducting its business in the First Gold tower as it had conducted business since the Second Age, and Ubergulden Morgana processed what existed and decided what would exist next. π™§π™šπ™šπ”€π’†π“«π“·π™€π“Ώπ’†π™‘.𝒄𝙀𝓢

She had given the order for the Ordnances to be sent down in the first place.

The lower Observable Existence had been a problem. Problems had solutions. Solutions had costs. The calculation was not one she had found difficult!

She was Ubergulden Morgana.

For someone as grand as her, an Ealdor Gilded One, the calculation... was never truly difficult!

Under her decisions, many would live, and many would die.

Someone had to make the decision!

This is the truth that the comfortable and the sheltered spend their entire existences refusing to accept, because accepting it would require them to acknowledge that the peace they inhabit was not produced by their virtue but by someone else’s willingness to do what virtue would have forbidden.

They live in the space cleared by choices they would never have made. They enjoy the silence left behind by sounds they never had to hear. And they look at the beings who made those choices and call them monsters, because calling them monsters is considerably easier than thanking them.

They should be groveling on their knees in gratitude.

The strong do not enjoy making the hard choices.

The being who orders the cleansing of a region, who looks at the accumulated decay of Civilizations that have forgotten their purpose and signs the authorization that removes them from the calculation entirely, does not do so from pleasure. They do so because the calculus demanded it and nobody else in the room was capable of running the calculus without flinching in the middle of it.

Weak beings flinch. This is their defining characteristic.

When the weak are absent from the room, the decision gets made correctly. Fuck the weak.
