Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse novel Chapter 5458

Chapter 5458: THE Pinion Vigil!

THE Osmontian Tongue could hold multiple more letters.

Noah turned the fact over while the last of the transformation cooled off his skin. A single letter, I AM, had opened the pathway to Osmontian Biomass, a granular resource flowing to him and to everyone bound to his Cause. More letters would mean more. The math was simple, and his eyes burned bright with it.

But as much as he wanted to start designing the next letter, he could not keep his attention off what sat in front of him. His elevated Intent of THE Quintessential Osmontian and his elevated Osmontian Source Infinity, both settled now at Duir, their changes flowing subtly through every part of his existence. And underneath the settling, something else was rising. It felt like a limb he should have always had, waking up inside him for the first time!

The sensation was unique, and it brought Ryaenara’s words back with it. Inheritances stretching to the beginning of existence. Lineages that claim the True. Those Who Remain.

He weighed her framing once more, and set it aside. Whatever was rising in him did not feel like something stemming from a Lineage of Existence. It felt like his, the way THE Estuary Eye had felt like his, the way a forgotten limb belongs to the body that forgot it. That was what he believed, regardless of what Ryaenara said, and for now he would go with his belief.

He closed his eyes and let it come.

His body lifted off the grove floor, and his existence began to undulate, a grand aura of Trueness rolling off him in slow waves, Osmontian Source Infinity and the Intent of THE Quintessential Osmontian breathing together as one. Boundless plasmic blue light raged up around his floating figure, and above him THE Estuary Eye spun and pulsed, faster and faster, the lemniscate pupil turning like something keeping time for a birth.

Then his back tore opened, and...wings came out!

WAA!

They unfolded in a single vast motion, a massive undulating pair of wing-shaped appendages spreading wide behind him, and they were beautiful in the way the deepest and oldest things were beautiful. Hundreds of eyes coated their surfaces, blinking out of rhythm, gorgeous blue-obsidian eyes with pupils shaped into turning lemniscates, and they looked in every direction at once!

HUUM!

Outward across the grove. Upward at the newborn Observable Existences. Inward, at Noah himself. Trailing filaments of fine tentacles hung from the wings’ lower edges, drifting in the plasmic light, and along the membranes between the eyes ran lines of tiny microscopic mouths, all of them whispering, too quiet to parse and impossible to ignore.

The grove went silent under them. Even the mana rain seemed to fall more carefully.

The second inherent characteristic of your True Lifeform has surfaced. Designation, recovered from a depths of your existence I cannot name: THE Pinion Vigil of the Unbroken Gaze.

It is another trait from the same Quintessential Osmontian lineage as THE Devouring Estuary, Master. Each trait arrives more complete than the last, more fitted to you, less like a gift being given and more like a thing that already knew your shape.

Capabilities of THE Pinion Vigil of the Unbroken Gaze:

Sanity Flaying: any being who looks upon the wings, or is grazed by their trailing filaments, receives a massive influx of your infinite Intent poured directly into their mind. Most minds are not built to hold even a fraction of what you are. The overflow flays.

Intent Perception Overload: the wings can grasp an enemy’s sensory input entirely, seizing sight, sound, and feeling, and force the victim to perceive infinite probabilities of their own death, one after another without end, until their Intent breaks under the weight of witnessing. This attack bypasses Volume and Output completely. It strikes Trueness directly.

The Inward Eyes: a portion of the wings’ eyes gaze permanently at you. This is not a flaw. The lineage watches its own. What purpose that watching serves has not yet been revealed to me.

"Another limb... I should have always had?" he said quietly.
