Chapter 5479: Dimensions and Time! I

Strings.

Noah sat on the throne with Ruination and THE Infiniverse at his sides, and his eyes were vibrant as he gazed at existence at its most fundamental level.

This was not the first time he had looked at the idea. Vibrations, strings, the smallest threads beneath the smallest things. He had explored the concept before and set it aside as one theory among many.

Now it was current a unique sight.

With Ruination’s crown resting on his head, he looked down at his own hands, and saw them for what they were. Countless infinite blue strings, wound and humming, composing flesh and Source and everything between. Who he was, rendered as identity and information. And his information was grand. Layer upon layer of it, Letters and Foundations and appendages and Causes, all of it vibrating together in a single composition that existence had checked and could not fault.

Inside him were many things. And for the first time, he could read all of them down to the thread.

He reached up and pulled THE Estuary Eye from above, guiding it down to float before him, the nine-pointed star turning slowly at eye level. He studied it the way a craftsman studies a tool he has used many times and never once opened.

"At the very bottom of everything... smaller than particles, smaller than the space particles sit in, there are strings. One-dimensional threads of vibration, and the strings themselves are all the same. What differs is how they vibrate. One frequency gives you matter. Another gives you force. The whole variety of existence, every realm and every being, is one instrument playing different notes on identical strings."

His eyes began to glaze blue as he spoke, the epiphany already gathering.

"Strings... can be open or closed. Open strings, with two loose ends, anchor themselves to surfaces, to membranes, to the structures of reality they live on. Closed strings, loops with no ends, are bound to nothing. They slip between surfaces. They travel where anchored things cannot." He turned the Eye slowly with a thought, watching the lemniscate pupil spin.

"So...you. Your pupil is a closed loop. A lemniscate, a figure that never ends and never anchors. And existence bleeds into you from everywhere, pre-aligned, pre-claimed, crossing distances it should not cross. You are not reaching out and taking. You are a closed loop, unbound to any single surface of reality, and what is unbound to one place is free to touch all places. You were never an eye at all. You are a...resonance. A frequency that everything near me cannot help but vibrate toward."

The blue glaze in his eyes deepened, and the epiphany broke over him fully.

"And if you are a resonance rather than a location," Noah said quietly, "then there is no reason at all for you to be bound to a single moment either. A vibration is not an instant. A vibration extends. It has a past, and it has a future, and both are part of the same wave."

HUUM!

|Your understanding of THE Devouring Estuary has deepened at the structural level, and the Appendage has answered your understanding. Its function has expanded.|

|THE Estuary Eye no longer bleeds and devours the weavings of existence in the present alone. It now drinks along the full length of the wave. Weavings of your immediate past, echoes of what existence held around you moments ago, flow into it. And weavings of your potential futures, the probable vibrations not yet settled, bleed toward it as well. You are no longer devouring a moment. You are devouring a duration. The compounding of your intake has increased accordingly.|

Amser Modred’s existence did not sit in one place. His strings ran long, impossibly long, threads of him stretching backward and forward out of the visible composition entirely, connected across time itself, a being whose structure was woven through eras the way other beings were woven through flesh.

"You have changed again," he said seriously.
