Noah was gaining an overabundance of information while he worked as he continued to pry from this being!
"THE First Lifeforms." Noah kept his voice idle, a man making conversation over delicate work. "Have any of your line seen one?"
"Seen one?" Skallagrim actually laughed, and paid for it in pain.
"No Progeny I know has EVER seen one. Not the pure ones, not the old ones, no one. They are gone from every telling after the early age. None know much about them as they are very secretive." His voice dropped.
...!
Noah’s hands kept moving, and behind his level expression, the questions stacked into towers! But he pressed no further along that road, because the work beneath his fingers was steepening!
He had passed a quarter of the line. Then a third. Clause after ancient clause pried loose and replaced, THE MORTAL COIL and THE UNBOUND LINEAGE settling into a Descendant’s code in growing crimson-gold lengths, his Blood Marks burning at every anchor, his three singularities pouring themselves out, and existence around them shook harder with every replaced word, the vibrations climbing from tremble to quake!
And progressively, Jarl Skallagrim’s expressions had been becoming pale.
The color drained from his fissured face as the work deepened, his breath shortening, his opened frame flickering with strain, and the moment Noah’s replacement crossed the fiftieth percent of the written line, the Jarl’s whole body began to shake atop his Steed!
"Whatever you’re doing," he forced out through rattling teeth, "you may want to hurry it up!"
BOOM!
And at such a point, the surroundings answered!
The foamy dark above them SPLIT with white as a storm of THE Argent Loom began to descend! Rivers upon rivers of stellar white authority poured down out of every direction at once, gathering, twisting, wrathful in a way that no current of it had ever been before, and out of the descending storm, the white began to take shape!
Snakes of Argent Loom, dozens of them, each one vaster than mountains, coiled out of the storm with open jaws of woven light and hurled themselves down at Noah’s clones as if to smite him for his actions!
The snakes came down, and Noah’s blood rose to meet them!
BOOM!
Rushes of Sanguine Blood Drops tore upward from all nine clones in walls of crimson gold, detonating against descending jaws of woven light, and the foamy dark turned into a natural disaster being born!
The storm of THE Argent Loom spread across the whole sky of the between-space, white rivers gathering into thunderheads vaster than Observable Existences, and from those thunderheads, coiling bodies of loomlight rained down with open mouths while Noah’s Infinite Sanguine Mana poured out of him in floods to answer them!
Snake after snake burst apart against detonating crimson! And for every one that burst, the storm above thickened, white swirling into white, the wrath of it pressing down on existence until the dark itself groaned!
And through all of it, Noah kept working, hands deep in a half-rewritten sentence, his voice cutting level through the roar.
"What about THE Argent Loom? For it to react like this to the change I am implementing...what do you know about it?"
Skallagrim’s pale face managed something between a grimace and a smile as another volley of drops burst above them.
"It is...also something very early," he rasped. "An extremely early authority. From the same age as Them. My line’s teachings say Those Who Remain utilized it before there were frameworks to utilize anything else... but perceiving it, using it, that needs high Dimensionality. Terribly high. Most of existence lives and dies never knowing it is there."
"And those without it... they chase instead the fused authority." His breath dragged. "Infinity, and THE Primordial Source. Woven together into one. That is the only other thing that can match up to the Argent Loom... and it is chased across all of existence, because the fusion does something the pure paths do not."
His shining eyes found the clone before him. "It elevates Dimensionality. You climb it, and you begin to perceive what you could not perceive. Climb far enough... and others stop perceiving you."
"There are many, many paths across existence. Some Primeval Ones and some of my brethren follow Infinity alone, all the way up. Others follow THE Primordial Source, deep and patient, density into density. Others try the fusing."
"There are many different results from the fusion of Infinity and THE Primordial Source as it depends on the individual, and very few achieve perfect fusion. One being attained a unique fusion ages ago that made his confidence a bit high. Someone known as Riven, in the past."
...!
The Jarl coughed. "And then there are the ones who abandon all of it. The moment they climb high enough to perceive the Argent Loom... they switch to it. Leave their whole path behind like a boat they only needed for the crossing. Because the Argent Loom does not have to be climbed. It is simply THERE, everywhere, waiting for anything deep enough to touch it."
