His Destiny! His Provenance!
She said the words with such total confidence that even Noah paused, because when he held her hand, he felt something he had not expected!
It was as though he were holding onto a boundless sun. A pull came off her frame through their joined hands, an unfathomable sense of attraction that reached into him and did not ask permission, drawing at his existence.
Thalia smiled, and let go!
"While I did say we have some leeway," she said, folding her hand back into her lap, "the dangers are very much real. You have to prepare. Nobody knows what THE Sealed One is truly capable of, with IT."
Her eyes stayed steady on his. "I need to make sure that you and THE Infiniverse are ready. So that Mother, and the others, are safe."
Her poise was grand even seated in her own dried blood, and Noah looked at this unfathomable woman and repeated her name silently, cementing it into his existence.
Thalia Vasiliou. Thalia!
"And what could be done to prepare that I have not already set in motion?" he asked.
"Nobody progresses across existence as fast as I do."
Thalia looked up, and raised her brows.
"Do not be so sure."
Noah’s eyes sharpened.
"Existence is vast. And Provenance Lifeforms are grand." She set down her plate of light. "Even you have not fully grasped your own Provenance. By the measure of what you could be... you are weak."
"Us First Lifeforms. Our power comes from within. That is what makes us the strongest things in existence. It is also what makes us the slowest. Everything we are, we must generate. And so where our peers consume treasures, devour one another, drink external authorities to swell their power in leaps, we cannot. We can only spur our own existence to produce more, and more, and more Provenance. From nothing but ourselves."
"...Which is slow," Noah said.
"Which is agonizingly slow." A small nod. "So agonizing that among the very first of us, a technique was developed. A way to spur the existence to grow faster than it ever would on its own."
...!
She wiped her lips with a slow grace and rose to her feet, and Noah caught himself watching the red of her lips as she moved.
"You always become distracted when you look at me." She said it as a simple, established fact. "But I need you to focus. This will be critical. We fortify you first, and then we fortify Mother and the others, so that even across time, their existences cannot be targeted, because THE Sealed One WILL reach for them, exactly as he reached for me. And for that, you need to be far more than you currently are."
Her expression steadied into something almost solemn. "This will injure me. So I will show it to you while I explain, and spend the cost only once. In the ages past, this was designed by lifeforms you and I would both revere."
She lifted her chin, and the exhaustion fell away from her bearing, and immensity gathered around her slender frame.
"This...is THE Sovereign Genesis of the Weighted Origin."
"It is not a technique of movement, or of striking, or of casting," Thalia said, and as she spoke, the air of the Realm began to change around her. "It is a technique of bearing. You have already met its shallowest cousin in your own bones, I think. The bearing of weight. This reaches out... and calls the weight down."
"You open your existence," she said, her voice tightening with the growing pressure, "and you invite the weight of all that surrounds you to settle upon it like a challenge through your Provenance. The weight of THE Primordial Source. The weight of Infinity. The weight of THE Argent Loom."
The white rivers of the Realm bent toward her, pouring their pressure onto her shoulders. "The weight of Dimensions. Of Observable Existences. Of the frameworks, the Scales, the whole architecture of everything near you."
Her knees bent under a load Noah could feel from where he stood, the grass caving in a wide ring beneath her. "And the weight of things you cannot yet perceive. All of it. Called down. Set upon a single existence, on purpose."
"It will try to crush you. That is the entire point. The weight becomes a catalyst. A pressure so total that your existence, refusing to be flattened, is forced to answer it, and the only answer a Provenance Lifeform has... is to generate! Pressed hard enough, from every direction at once, the existence spurs itself to produce more Provenance simply to have something to push back with. The weight is the enzyme. The Provenance is what it forces out of you!"
"And it does more than generate," she forced out, her frame trembling under the invisible mountain of existence. "The adversity refines you. The same weight that squeezes out your Provenance also grinds your existence finer, layer by layer, tempering what you are against the pressure of everything you are not. You come out the other side both greater... and truer"
