Griffin felt a chill run down his spine because even he didn’t know how long he could keep up with the stories he had made up.
Just as he was racking his brain to divert the topic.
A particularly arrogant voice came from beside him.
"Mandy, long time no see!"
Upon hearing this voice, Griffin immediately turned to look and saw a group of people walking briskly toward them.
Leading them was a man dressed impeccably yet luxuriously, a piece clearly crafted by a top master, his face handsome yet his gaze filled with arrogance.
Mandy frowned slightly upon seeing this man.
"Valentin, you came too?"
"Heh, of course, because the charity banquet tonight is hosted by our Carter Family!"
Indeed!
The newcomer was Valentin Carter, who had previously gone to the Drunken Dance Bar to investigate.
Mandy’s dislike for Valentin Carter’s overbearing attitude grew stronger, but due to her good upbringing, she nodded slightly.
"If that’s the case, then suit yourself!"
But Valentin did not leave; he squinted his eyes and greedily glanced at Mandy before gesturing to the seated Griffin.
"Move out of the way!"
Griffin was stunned; was he talking to me?
Valentin frowned before speaking again in a superior tone, "Kid, I told you to hurry up and vacate this seat, didn’t you hear?"
This statement made Griffin find it laughable.
He had always spoken to others this way; it was the first time someone dared speak to him like this.
But in this prestigious gathering, he could not act out, so he could only return Valentin’s gaze coldly.
He knew well the power of the Carter Family and understood that Valentin’s presence indicated he was a favored child within it.
But regardless of the opponent’s strong background, he could not back down now.
Because a social event is also a hunting ground, even a moment of vulnerability would be like a lion losing its claws, soon becoming prey seen as weak by many.
However, his silence clearly angered Valentin; his brows drew higher.
"You must be the so-called king of sin, Griffin!"
When Valentin mentioned "king of sin," his face was filled with ridicule.
Griffin relaxed and leaned back in his chair, calmly replying, "Yes, that’s me!"
"Tsk tsk, I assume you had to work hard just to appear here, after all, someone like you has no right to attend this banquet!"
With that, Valentin’s tone grew more domineering.
"Now, I give you two choices: first, obediently stand up and get lost, in which case I’ll still give you some face! As for the second... "
Valentin snarled, "I’ll have security drag you out and break both your legs, making you crawl back to your doghouse bit by bit!"
In Griffin’s eyes, a fierce flame suddenly rose.
It was the flame of anger.
Though he was well aware that in the eyes of these big shots, he was nothing more than a dog.
But even a dog has its dignity.
With Valentin speaking so disrespectfully, if he really backed down, he would never be able to hold his head high again in his life.
So he hardened himself, glaring coldly at Valentin.
