This streak of sword light was like a silken ribbon, slashing in from outside the garden. Wherever it passed, the flowers and grass bowed their heads, revealing a deep ravine, the momentum utterly terrifying.
But Ke Jinyun only snorted coldly. "A mere Sword Cultivator dares to act rashly in front of me?"
As he spoke, he slowly raised his hand. Clamped between his fingers was half a flower branch, which he tilted to point at this ferocious incoming sword.
There was no sound!
The sword light collided silently with the flower branch in Ke Jinyun’s hand.
After a brief stagnation, both the sword light and the flower branch vanished together.
Ke Jinyun paid this no mind, his face as dark as water as he looked into the distance.
Because just then, a figure could be seen treading slowly across the sea of flowers toward them.
Where he passed, his aura surged, wild winds whipping the flowers and grass, yet his expression remained utterly calm and unruffled.
Seeing him, Liao Zhiji reacted as if he had just seen a life-saving straw, and shouted hoarsely, "My lord, save me!"
Hearing this, Ke Jinyun frowned slightly, and then the flowers and grass entwining Liao Zhiji’s legs instantly extended two long sharp spikes, stabbing straight toward his chest and abdomen, clearly intending to put him to death.
But at that moment, two streaks of sword light arrived later yet struck first, severing those two spikes in the blink of an eye.
Then they heard Xue An say calmly, "He may be a dog, but even when you beat a dog you have to look at its owner. I’m sure you understand that much!"
At these words, Ke Jinyun let out a cold chuckle. "Even when you beat a dog you have to look at its owner... well said. But he belongs to the Palace of Light. And what kind of ’owner’ are you supposed to be?"
"I wasn’t before, but now I am."
"What an arrogant tone!"
Xue An shook his head. "This isn’t arrogance, merely confidence in my own strength."
Ke Jinyun stared icily at Xue An, and only after a long moment did he speak. "You dare come here alone and throw yourself into danger—I truly don’t know where you get your courage from."
Xue An ignored him, instead lowering his head to look at the riotous sea of flowers beneath his feet, and sighed softly.
"They’re really beautiful. It’s a shame that the prettier the flowers and grass, the more likely they are to hide filth beneath them. Am I right?"
Ke Jinyun’s face changed. "You’re courting death!"
As his words fell, flowers and grass in every direction around Xue An grew madly like they’d gone insane, sprawling outward and tightly encircling him.
Even so, Xue An remained unruffled, instead looking at Ke Jinyun with a faint, mocking smile.
It was precisely this silent contempt that stoked the fury in Ke Jinyun’s heart even higher.
"Kill!"
With that single word, these seemingly fragile flowers and plants instantly turned into lethal killing tools, launching an indiscriminate assault on Xue An in the center.
Liao Zhiji’s eyelids twitched wildly as he watched. He certainly wasn’t worried about Xue An’s safety.
The key was that there was still a talisman planted by Xue An inside his own head!
If Xue An died, wouldn’t he be buried along with him?
So Liao Zhiji watched this scene with his heart pounding out of his chest.
Thankfully, this worry only lasted a few seconds before he saw those flowers and plants suddenly crushed by some immense force, shattered into pieces.
Xue An stepped out from within them, his gaze cold as ice.
"You seem angry. But what’s buried beneath such a beautiful sea of flowers—you should know better than I do. Do I really need to spell it out?"
Ke Jinyun’s face went pale; without another word, he directly launched himself at Xue An.
As for this white-robed youth who had suddenly appeared, Ke Jinyun had initially dismissed him with contempt.
After all, this was his absolute home ground. Although he didn’t know how this youth had slipped in under his very nose...
Since the other hadn’t dared step into this sea of flowers earlier, that meant he knew this was Ke Jinyun’s absolute Domain.
