The Netherworld Ghost Market’s composition is extremely unique, resembling a place that is both fantastical and real.
So even though a commotion had erupted inside the Hundred Benevolence Store just now, and even though it was swallowed by the Sea of Fire, the outside world remained completely unaware.
After Xue An led Shu Jingchu out of the Hundred Benevolence Store, he headed straight for the Treasure Pavilion located at the highest point of the Netherworld Ghost Market.
The journey was unimpeded, and they soon arrived outside the entrance of the Treasure Pavilion.
But before they went inside, a man dressed in the most basic of clothes, without even the fog that conceals his face, caught Xue An’s attention.
This man was huddled in the corner next to the entrance of the Treasure Pavilion, his face filled with a look of fearful anxiety, cautiously observing the passing pedestrians.
However, those who appeared here were mostly shrouded in fog, making it impossible for him to see any clues.
For some reason, upon seeing this man, Xue An felt a stir in his heart, then said to Shu Jingchu beside him.
"Wait here for me!"
With that, Xue An stepped toward the man.
The man shuddered all over upon realizing Xue An was approaching him, shrinking even further into his already huddled figure.
By this time, Xue An had reached him, squatted down, and looked at the face filled with fear, speaking softly.
"Don’t be afraid, I mean no harm. I just noticed you seem to be in some trouble, so I’m here to ask if there’s anything I can do to help?"
Upon hearing these words, the man, who had been trembling incessantly, calmed a bit, though his eyes were still filled with terror.
"I...I...I’m fine!" the man said, struggling.
"Don’t be afraid, I truly mean no harm. I just feel like you’ve encountered something very terrifying, so I’m particularly coming to ask!" Xue An gently spoke.
Suddenly, the man broke down crying, speaking in a choked voice while sobbing: "I...I’m fine, I’m really fine! It’s the same every day anyway, so I’m really fine!"
The more he spoke, the more agitated he became, his sobbing turning into hysterical screams.
Such a commotion naturally attracted the attention of pedestrians, but upon seeing it was this man making noise, many snorted in disdain and then departed as usual.
Some ’well-meaning’ people even commented as they passed by Xue An, "You don’t have to mind him; he’s just a complete lunatic."
Xue An ignored these people’s advice and instead gazed deeply at the man until after a moment he stood up.
"My name is Xue An, if you have something to say, you can come find me!"
Having said that, Xue An turned and left.
After he left, the previously frantic man gradually calmed down, watching Xue An’s back with a contemplative expression.
Meanwhile, Xue An returned to Shu Jingchu’s side.
Shu Jingchu smiled somewhat oddly, "So, how was it, took a hit, didn’t you!"
"Hmm?"
Shu Jingchu laughed softly, "It’s okay, it’s nothing embarrassing! You should know that the first time I came to the Treasure Pavilion, I noticed that man too."
"Back then, I also thought that guy must be an important NPC, so I tried various methods to approach him, but all resulted in failure. Later I realized this guy is just a madman!"
Saying this, Shu Jingchu’s tone was full of schadenfreude, "So, he didn’t insult you, did he?"
Xue An merely smiled faintly, then headed toward the Treasure Pavilion.
