The next morning I woke up with the same thought sitting on my chest.

I should’ve told him.

It had followed me to bed.

I stared at the ceiling for a minute before rolling over and grabbing my phone.

Every time I read it my heart did this weird mix of excitement and panic.

The numbers were so big they barely felt real.

My stomach tightened.

I leaned back against my headboard and exhaled slowly.

“I should’ve studied harder,” I whispered.

Trying to survive every day without feeling like everyone in the building was staring at me…

My door creaked open.

“You’re up early,” he said.

“So are you.”

He stepped inside and sat on the edge of my bed.
