Jared chance novel Chapter 6640

Alden tried to stand.

He failed once.

Then he pushed himself up again, blood dripping from his mouth onto the dirt.

His cloudy eyes swept across the square.

Bodies covered the ground.

Women were being dragged away.

Children sobbed in blood.

The old man's tears finally fell.

"Heaven..."

He raised his head and cried into the night, his voice full of grief and rage. "I, Alden Farrow, spent my life doing good and never harmed the innocent. Why? Why do this to me? Why do this to my people?"

No answer came.

Only laughter.

Only crying.

Only the sound of the village being destroyed.

Alden closed his eyes.

Blue-green light rose from his body.

It grew brighter.

Hotter.

His body began to swell, and cracks opened across his skin, spilling sharp light.

He was going to self-destruct.

A Golden Immortal Level Six cultivator's self-destruction could flatten the whole village and take many of the invaders with it.

Marcus's face changed.

"Stop him! He is going to blow himself up!"

Several mercenaries rushed forward, but the spiritual power around Alden was too violent. None could get close.

Marcus had to move himself.

He gathered his power into one palm and struck Alden's spirit well.

The blow landed hard.

Alden's body jerked.

The light around him scattered at once. He collapsed like a punctured hide bag, falling into the dirt and coughing up a mouthful of blood.

His spirit well had been shattered.

Marcus looked down at him with a cold smile.

"Self-destruct? You think you have that right?"

Alden lay in the blood.

His eyes were still open.

They held despair.

Unwillingness.

And rage.

His lips moved, but no sound came.

Marcus lifted his foot and stepped down on his chest.

Crack.

Alden's chest collapsed.

Blood poured from his mouth and spread across the ground.

The light in his eyes went out.

Alden Farrow, chief of Clearwind Village, a Golden Immortal Level Six cultivator, died in his own village before the people he had tried to protect.

"Chief!"

The cry that rose from the villagers was raw enough to tear the night apart.

Women collapsed to the ground.

Children shook until they could not make a sound.

Men clenched their fists until blood ran between their fingers, but they were powerless.

Marcus looked from the bodies to the women being dragged away.

His face did not change.

"Keep searching. Find the core."

The mercenaries tore through the village again.

They found nothing.

The beast core was not there.

Jared was not there.

Marcus's face grew darker with each report.

"When is Jared coming back?"

"I... I do not know," one mercenary said carefully. "Maybe he is not coming back at all."

Marcus said nothing for a long while.

"Then wait. Put men on every road into the village. If Jared appears, report immediately. The rest of you continue searching."

He looked at the villagers being held in the square.
