Jealousy Alpha's Regret novel Chapter 208

Chapter 208

My blood froze.

His eyes were open.

Not just open they were fixed directly on me, watching with undisguised intensity. How long had he been looking? My face burned with equal parts embarrassment and anger.

You were supposed to keep your eyes closed,I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

We stared at each other, neither moving. The air between us felt charged, heavy with things unsaid. I could hear my own heartbeat, too loud in my ears.

Could he hear it too?

Then, inexplicably, Sebastien let out a soft snort of laughter.

The sound broke the tension, replacing it with irritation. I turned away, trying to reach the buttons again, determined to handle this myself.

Need help?he asked, his voice lower than before.

No,I said automatically, still struggling. I’m fine.

I felt him shift behind me. You can’t reach them. Stop being stubborn.

I said I’m fine,I insisted, even as my fingers failed to grasp the highest button.

Turn around, Iris.

No, I-

Turn. Around. His Alpha energy suddenly filled the car, making the air thick and heavy. It wasn’t a full commandhe wouldn’t darebut it was close enough to make my wolf instincts twitch with the need to obey.

I spun around, furious. Don’t you dare use that tone with me!

Then don’t act like a child,he growled. You need help with the buttons. I’m offering help. It’s not complicated.

Before I could protest again, he reached forward and grabbed my arm, pulling me toward him. My head spun with the sudden movement, and I found myself practically in his lap, his face inches from mine.

Let go of me!I hissed.

Not until you stop being ridiculous,he said, his breath warm against my cheek. Turn around.

I weighed my options. Fighting him would just prolong this nightmare, and I needed to get to the Stone estate as quickly as possible. With a resigned sigh, I turned my back to him.

His hands moved to the buttons at the base of my neck, and I stiffened. The familiar scent of his colognepine and something distinctly himsurrounded me, bringing back memories I’d tried so hard to bury. Our first meeting at that charity gala. The way he’d looked at me across the room. How my wolf had instantly recognized something in him.

Chapter 208

His fingers worked methodically, moving down my spine. Each touch sent an unwelcome shiver through me. Why did my body still react to him this way?

After everything he’d done?

You’re tense,he observed, his voice too close to my ear.

Wouldn’t you be?I shot back. If someone who’s practically a stranger was touching you?

His hands paused. Is that what I am to you now? A stranger?

I didn’t answer. Couldn’t answer. The truth was too complicated.

His fingers resumed their work, but slower now, more deliberate. Each brush against my skin felt intentional, like he was testing my reaction. I held my breath, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing me respond.

Finally, mercifully, he fastened the last button. Done.

I pulled away immediately, retreating to my side of the seat. My back felt cold where his fingers had been. I turned to face the window, watching the clouds
