Chapter 52
The room filled quickly, nervous energy palpable as designers clutched their tablets and notebooks. Megan swept in exactly on time, immaculately dressed in a crimson suit that screamed power
and confidence.
“Good morning, everyone,” she said, her voice honeyed but her eyes
sharp. “I hope you’ve all made progress on your assignments.”
Her gaze landed on me, a smirk playing at the corner of her mouth.
“Iris, you’re looking a bit tired today. Late night?”
A few people chuckled nervously. I smiled back, keeping my
expression neutral. “Just passionate about the project, Ms. Claire.”
She nodded, clearly not believing me. “Well, let’s see if that passion
translated into something usable. I’m assuming you completed the design concept I asked for?”
“I did,” I replied calmly, though my heart was racing. This was a direct
challenge, in front of the entire team.
“Wonderful,” Megan said, her tone suggesting she expected the opposite. “Why don’t you share with the group what you’ve come up

with?”
I connected my tablet to the projector and pulled up my designs. A
collective gasp filled the room as the images appeared on screen. I’d
created a collection that blended traditional elements with
innovative twists, incorporating moonstone in ways that paid subtle
homage to wolf symbolism while remaining commercially appealing
to humans.
“As requested, I focused on integrating North Star’s traditional
elements with Crescent’s modern luxury aesthetic,” I explained,
scrolling through the detailed renderings. “The centerpiece uses a
rare blue moonstone arrangement that catches light from multiple
angles, symbolizing the connection between tradition and
innovation.”
The room was silent. I could feel everyone’s eyes shifting between my
designs and Megan’s increasingly rigid posture.
“My God, Iris,” Amy Wilson whispered from across the table. “How did
you put this together so quickly? I was worried you’d be completely
overwhelmed by this challenge.”
I smiled modestly. “I’ve always admired North Star’s work. Their
aesthetic just resonates with me.”

Megan cleared her throat, her expression tightly controlled. “Well, this is certainly… unexpected. You’ve shown remarkable efficiency,
Iris.” Her voice was strained, as if the compliment physically hurt her.
“I knew you’d rise to the challenge. That’s why I selected you for this
task.
I bit back a laugh at her transparent attempt to take credit. “Thank
you for the opportunity,” I replied, matching her false sweetness.
“Now that Iris has helped us find some direction,” Megan continued,
quickly shifting attention away from my success, “let’s look at what
the rest of you have prepared.”
As other designers presented their work, I watched Megan closely. Her eyes kept darting to my designs, her jaw tightening each time someone complimented my concept. She was furious but trying desperately not to show it.
Lisa leaned over and whispered, “I can’t believe you pulled this off. Your designs are incredible. I remember your earlier sketches, but
these are on a whole different level.”
I smiled, watching Megan pretend to be absorbed in Jason’s
presentation. “I work well under pressure.”
When all the presentations finished, Megan stood up and clasped her
