Jealousy Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 81
My fingers hovered over Daniel’s contact information. If Sebastien
wouldn’t answer, maybe his Beta would know where he was hiding.
Daniel picked up on the second ring. “Hello?”
“Daniel, it’s Iris. Where’s Sebastien?” I kept my voice steady,
professional.
There was a moment of hesitation on the other end–just a fraction
too long. “Luna, what can I help you with?”
I noticed he’d avoided my question. My irritation flared. “I’m asking
where Sebastien is.”
“Our Alpha left early this morning for a business trip. He should be on a plane right now,” Daniel replied, his tone carefully neutral.
I let out a harsh laugh. “Really? That’s interesting, because when I called just now, his phone rang several times before going to voicemail. Phones don’t ring on airplanes, Daniel.”
Silence greeted my observation.

“Also,” I continued, my anger building, “since when does an Alpha
travel without his Beta? Aren’t you supposed to be his shadow?”
“Iris, I-”
“Just tell your Alpha something for me,” I cut him off, beyond caring
about politeness. “Remind him that even in wolf packs, the most
important quality is keeping your word. When you repeatedly promise
something and fail to deliver, you lose more than credibility–you
lose respect.”
I ended the call before Daniel could respond, my hand shaking
slightly with anger and disappointment. Of course Sebastien would
take the coward’s way out. Why had I expected anything different?
Standing there in the morning sunlight, I made a swift decision. If
Sebastien couldn’t be bothered to show up for our agreed–upon
meeting, I wasn’t going to waste a personal day waiting around for
him.
“If he’s at the office pretending to be on a business trip, I’ll call him
out on his bullshit,” I muttered, heading toward my car.

Lisa leaned closer. “I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but Megan
was practically giddy in the morning meeting. She almost called you
out for being absent, then stopped herself and smiled in this really

I glanced over at Megan, who was now walking toward us with
determined steps.
“Something’s definitely up,” I whispered to Lisa. “She looks way too
happy to see me.”
Megan approached my desk, dismissing Lisa with a sharp look before
turning to me with an unnaturally pleasant expression.
