Chapter 84
Iris’s POV
“Oh shit!” I whispered, staring at the screen in horror.
The message showed as “Delivered” with the photo attached–sent to
Sebastien Grey. My finger must have accidentally hit send when I was
picking up my clothes.
“No, no, no,” I muttered, frantically tapping at my phone as if I could
somehow unsend it. But it was too late. The damage was done.
I leaned against the wall, my heart racing. What would Sebastien
think? That I was deliberately sending him provocative photos? That
I was trying to get his attention? Or worse–that I was dressing like
this for someone else?
“Damn it,” I hissed through clenched teeth. “I was going to use this to
threaten Megan, not send it to him!”
The irony wasn’t lost on me. I’d avoided Megan’s trap only to fall into
one of my own making. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my
nerves. There was nothing I could do about the photo now. I’d have to
deal with the fallout later.

Right now, I had more pressing concerns–like the smug wolf waiting
for me outside.
I tossed the glossy black box onto the nearby sofa and straightened
my shoulders. Whatever game Megan was playing, I needed to stay
one step ahead. This wasn’t just about me anymore; I had my baby to
think about.
Pushing open the door, I found Megan examining her manicure, a
self–satisfied smile playing on her lips. She clearly thought she’d won
something. Time to burst her bubble.
“Next time you choose clothing for someone, try using your brain,” I
said, my voice deliberately light and casual. “If you spent half as
much effort on your actual job as you do on these petty games, you
might actually be the valuable team member you pretend to be.”
Megan’s head snapped up, her eyes narrowing into slits. “What did
you just say to me?”
“You heard me.” I maintained eye contact, refusing to back down.
“Your little outfit stunt was pathetic and transparent. I expected
better from Sebastien’s former flame.”
Her face contorted with rage, and I could almost see her wolf pushing
against her skin, wanting to lash out. Good. Let her feel what it’s like

to be on the receiving end for once.
“The clients are waiting for us,” she managed to say through gritted
teeth.
I glanced at my watch. “Are they? Then by all means, Megan, lead the
way. I wouldn’t want to keep your… special clients waiting.”
She turned on her heel, practically stomping toward the elevator. I
followed at a measured pace, enjoying her obvious frustration.
Whatever she had planned for this meeting, she hadn’t expected me
to come dressed professionally.
As we entered the restaurant, my werewolf senses immediately picked
up the tension in the air. The hostess led us to a private dining room,
and I quickly scanned the space as we entered. Six middle–aged
