My heart hammered as I found myself staring into his amber eyes, half–lidded but intense. “Sebastien, I gasped, trying to pull away. “Wake up. You need to let me go.”
Instead of releasing me, he rolled to his side, pulling me with him. His heat nestled against my shoulder, his nose brushing the skin of my neck where my scent was strongest.
“Don’t move,” he mumbled, his voice carrying the unmistakable Alpha comand that made my muscles lock involuntarily.
He wrapped his arm around my waist, dragging me closer until my back pressed against his chest. His breathing grew steady against my neck. sending unwanted shivers down my spine.
I tried to wiggle free, but his grip tightened. “Sebastien Grey,” I said firmly, hoping his full name might break through his drunken haze.
His eyes remained closed, but his lips parted slightly. “Iris…” he whispered, so softly I barely heard it.
The sound of my name on his lips made my heart stutter. Not Megan. Not the blonde from the bar. My name.
I closed my eyes, knowing I should keep fighting, keep trying to leave. But exhaustion weighed on me, and his body was warm against mine. He
wouldn’t remember any of this tomorrow, and I’d be gone soon enough.
Morning light filtered through the curtains when I woke, my back aching from sleeping in an awkward position. I carefully extracted myself from Sebastien’s loose grip, relieved he hadn’t stirred. The clock on the bedside table made me jolt–I had less than an hour to prepare for my
first day at the internship.
I hurried to get ready, pushing thoughts of Sebastien from my mind. Today marked the beginning of my independent life, and I refused to let
him overshadow it.

Standing before the gleaming company building, I smoothed my blazer and took a steadying breath. The subtle scent of wolves lingered in the air–not unusual for a high–end design firm in Moonshade Bay. Many businesses were wolf–owned, even if humans didn’t know it.
The receptionist checked my name against an appointment list. “Miss Stone? Michael will be down to meet you shortly.”
While waiting, I observed the bustling lobby, imagining my future here. This was my chance to build something for myself and my babies–a life independent of Grey family protection.
“Miss Stone?” A friendly voice interrupted my thoughts. “I’m Michael. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Mr. Foster speaks highly of your design
talent.”
I shook his hand, noting the subtle wolf scent. “Thank you, Mr. Parker. That’s very kind, but I still have much to learn.”
Michael gave me a comprehensive tour, explaining the company’s structure and design philosophy. His praise seemed genuine, making me feel cautiously optimistic.
“Honestly,” Michael confided as we walked down a corridor, “before meeting you, I couldn’t believe you were still a college student. It’s even more impressive considering you’re…” He stopped suddenly, seeming to catch himself.
