Wang Wei caressed his temple while groaning. His head — no, his very soul — hurt after creating this technique. He has created some techniques beyond his realm or ability before, but none of them were as harsh as this one. Honestly speaking, Wang Wei doesn’t think he can create another one because this one alone has used up all the knowledge he has accumulated throughout his life since he started cultivating.
A Soul Healing Pill appeared in his hand, and he swallowed it. Wang Wei expected some kind of relief from the pain, but it was useless. Without many options, he accessed his soul reserve in the Void Illusion Realm to solve the issue, but while this one had some effect, it was too slow.
"Without the third optimization of your soul, creating a Saint Art will have some consequences," Maitreya commented. She waved her hand, and a golden light entered Wang Wei’s body, significantly alleviating his discomfort.
"Thanks."
"As things are now, it seems you may give Wu Hong some competition for the first transcendent position," Maitreya sighed. Saint Arts are nothing extraordinary for people of their level, but for anyone else not in this realm to create a technique on that level is truly the highest form of achievement.
"I’m far from it," Wang Wei shook his head. His wife has already made up for the Taboo Battle Realm and has already completed half of her third transcendent foundation. Now, she’s traveling the Infinite Trichiliocosm to condense her Omega Rune and find a way to attain the Immeasurable Emperor title. By the time she returns, she’ll be ready to be sanctified.
"Regardless, your sanctification will not be far after hers," Maitreya added. "Do you mind?"
"Go ahead."
The Great Buddha was immediately enthralled with the scroll’s content. "Truly brilliant. Besides the only unavoidable flaw, you’ve thought of everything, including the backlash."
"Speaking of which, I need your help to gather the materials," Wang Wei asked. The timeline for the counterattack will be blocked, forcing him to refine the materials before the expedition can proceed.
"Wait until I’m done, and I’ll get them for you."
"No problem," Wang Wei nodded. "Do you have any suggestions for improvement?" He wasn’t a Saint, as such, Wang Wei would appreciate the point of view of one.
"There are a few ways you can optimize the technique," Maitreya nodded as she transmitted knowledge directly into his divine sense.
"The burden on the soul can indeed be optimized," Wang Wei nodded.
"You can use this scroll as a Luck Condensing Artifact for either your Wang Clan or the entire sect," Maitreya suggested.
"I have the same thought." With a Saint-tier item condensing a faction’s luck — even if it’s the lowest Saint-tier object — the advantages would be numerous. Wang Wei even suspects the scroll can be used as a Saint-Level Attack by sacrificing a significant portion of Qi Luck.
"And this is for you," Maitreya added. Her palm opened, revealing a cloud of purple merit and a small transparent dragon.
"Heavenly Dao’s reward?" Wang Wei uttered before taking them.
"As the first Immortal to create a Saint Art in the world, you deserve it."
The merit was a significant amount, probably twice as much as Wang Wei had gathered so far. The luck was Transcendent Luck, which he did not really need because he despised the idea of relying on luck for his transcendent path. As such, he decided to take the merit, but leave the luck for the sect. Anyway, his transcendent luck was enough.
"What are you going to do now?"
"I still don’t feel secure enough, so I plan to condense the Dao Quintessence Prototype before I leave."
"Then, I wish you good luck."
"Long time no see, Serpent Empress."
"It’s you," Li Chuntao said while glaring at Wang Wei.
"The one and only."
The Heavenly Serpent Empress sighed. "I had a feeling that this day would come. I didn’t expect your petty little ass would show up so fast. How can a man be so petty? Didn’t you lose fair and square?"
"I did," Wang Wei nodded. "But you know this is not about my defeat."
"Yes, how can someone as greedy as you give up such a weapon?" Li Chuntao sneered.
"Believe it or not, I had no plan to fight you over it," Wang Wei uttered. The broken artifact had no appeal to him since it would require too much time and effort to fix and elevate it back to a Saint Artifact. But things have changed. Wang Wei needed a backup plan for his expedition, and that artifact was precisely what he needed.
Li Chuntao sneered after hearing these words. "I’ve calculated and deduced that either that ambitious bastard Dugu Baitian would be the first to make a move and recuperate from his previous loss, or one of the weaker Overlords or the Primal Lineages would try to increase their lineage’s foundation and attack me. I never expected you would be the first one."
The Heavenly Serpent Empress knew that with these top sects’ spy network, the artifact would not be hidden for long after her battle with Wang Wei years ago. She had made many preparations in anticipation, but she never expected Wang Wei to be the first one to act. According to her plan, these top forces would wait and observe first.
"Things have changed, and unfortunately, I need that artifact," Wang Wei said calmly. "On account of acquaintance, I recommend you don’t struggle."
"It seems I’ve misjudged you," Li Chuntao chuckled. "I never thought you would be the kind of person to let power get to your head." How long has Wang Wei been a D-Class Primal? Did he really think she would not make any progress?
