The morning sun came through my bedroom curtains, but it didn’t warm me up at arh. I had a cold, heavy feeling in my stomach. Today was finally the day. The final custody hearing for my daughter.
“Aria bey. Look at me, Brandon said. His deep voice broke the quiet in the room. He stepped up right behind me. He was so big and tall, and just being near him made me feel safe. Are you ready?”
1 couldn’t answer him right away. I just stared at myself in the big mirror, fixing the front of my suit jacket. My mind went back to the past. The last time I was anywhere near a court, I was just a scared girl trying everything to save my dad’s company.
But this time, it was totally different. I wasn’t fighting over a business or shares. I was fighting for my little girl. She was my whole heart.
I looked at Brandon standing behind me in the mirror, and a big wave of emotion hit me. The only good thing about both of these horrible times was him.
He supported me back then, and he was supporting me right now. Still, the nervousness in my throat made it hard to breathe. I grabbed the edge of the dresser tightly, my knuckles turning white.
“Brandon. I’m scared. What if everything we prepared isn’t enough?”
Before I could panic any more, he put his big hands on my shoulders and turned me around gently to face him. He reached up, cupping my face in his warm, rough palms, making me look right at him.
“Breathe, beautiful. Just breathe
I leaned into his hands right away, closing my eyes for a second to feel his strength. “I’m not really worried when you’re right here with me, I whispered, my voice shaking. “But what if the Vance family has some kind of trick? What if things go wrong today? What if
I was starting to cry and get confused, completely terrified of losing Amelia, but Brandon didn’t let me finish. He pulled me hard against his chest, lifted my chin up, and kissed me deeply.
Kight away, all the crazy thoughts in my head stopped. I just melted against him, holding onto his jacket sleeves while his warmth brought me back to reality.
When he pulled away slowly, he kept his forehead resting against mine so I could just breathe for a moment. “I am going to be with you no matter what happens today, Aría. Do you hear me? No matter what.”
A real smule finally broke through my fear, and I nodded against his chest. “Okay”
He smiled back, kissing the tip of my nose. “My lawyer is already at the court getting everything ready. It’s time to go,
Took a deep breath, held his hand, and we walked out of the bedroom and down the hallway. Down in the foyer, Amelia, was already dressed and waiting for us.
Mending right next to her was the new nanny, Marals. I still didn’t really like how fast the agency replaced the nanny originally chose, bau barab had been really great this past week, so I decided to stop worrying about it for now.

Chapter 200-
She didn’t look scared at all anymore. She just looked like she knew what she wanted to do. “Mommy… I want to ask you and Uncle Brandon for a favor.”
I blinked, looking up at Brandon before looking back down at her. “What is it, princess?”
Amelia looked back and forth between me and Brandon, her little voice steady. “I want two minutes to talk to my dad alone before the court hearing starts.”
A sharp hit of fear went through my chest. I had no idea what Amelia wanted to ask him. After the scary mess Julian caused at our house gate, the last thing I wanted was for her to be anywhere near him.
I looked up at Brandon, my eyes begging him to tell me what to do. Brandon staked down at Amelia for a long, quiet moment, seeing how she was not backing down. Slowly, he gave me a firm nod.
I turned back to my daughter, hiding my fear. “Okay, sweetie. You can have your two minutes. Mommy will let you do what you want.”
The drive to the courthouse was just a tense, stressful time. The moment our car pulled up to the curb, the crazy reality of everything hit us immediately.
There were paparazzi and reporters everywhere, crowded behind metal bars, yelling questions and flashing bright cameras right at our windows.
Brandon didn’t even wait. The second the door opened, he reached inside and lifted Amelia up into his big arms, hiding her face against his shoulder.
He used his other arm to pull me tight against his side. His security guards made a tight wall around us, pushing through the loud, angry crowd.
We moved through the big glass doors of the courthouse, and the loud noise from the reporters finally stopped when the security guards locked the doors behind us.
We walked down the long, loud hallway toward the family courtroom. But the moment we stepped into the waiting area, the mood turned completely bad.
Julian, Leonie, and the whole Vance family legal team were already standing there waiting.
Julian looked awful. His face was pale and his eyes were completely bloodshot. But the exact second he saw us, his face twisted into pure anger.
He saw Amelia sitting safely in Brandon’s arms, and he took a scary step forward, pointing his finger at us. Drop my daughter right now!” Julian yelled, his voice echoing loudly against the walls. “You have no right to tofich her, Brandon. Put her down right now!”
His loud shouting made me jump, but Brandon didn’t even blink. He kept holding Amelia tightly, staring Julian down with cold, dangerous eyes.
Amelia didn’t cry at all.
She looked at Brandon’s face, tapped his shoulder gently, and gave him a little nod. Knowing what she wanted, Brandon slowly and carefully set her feet down on the floor.
On shaking legs. Amelia started walking away from us. Everyone in the room stopped talking completely as the lïule girl walked across the space between us, stopping just an inch away from where Julian stood.
Julian’s angry look went away the moment he saw his daughter close to him. He looked completely sad and desperate, and he immediately dropped to both knees so he was at eye level with her.
