Making Plans Part I
In the back of the SUV nestled between Beni and Phineas, Juniper was grinning.
“What are you smirking for?”
“Today’s been an absolute treat of a day.” She paused, “aside from the driver getting hurt. The rest has been fun.” She looked up at Phineas, her eyes bright and shiny. “Do you know how amazing it was to see Kyst in cuffs? It was a thing of beauty and then the way your fathers put Carl in his place.”
“Was he always like that?
“What?”
“Condescending and talking to you like you were beneath him?” Phineas asked coldly.
“Not to my face. Not ever. I’ve never heard him talk like that to me or about me before. He always treated me like I was special. Before we started trying for a baby and things got strained, we went to their home for dinner and game night once a week and he was always very respectful and kind to me. I want to say it didn’t hurt a little bit for him to turn like he did but it stung. I considered him a father–figure, but the pain dissipated pretty quickly when your dads all stuck up for me. I like having a big strong army of men defending me. I felt very queen like.”
Phineas laughed at her words, “you are a queen.” He kissed her temple, his smile tracing her skin. “You are a fucking goddess actually, I also love how you tore after Denise for making Haven cry. You commanded the attention of every person in the room like a fucking boss, and it was sexy.”
“Phineas,” she giggled as his teeth nipped her car.
“I agree with him.” Beni’s hand squeezed her thigh. “I swear to the heavens I spent most of our time in the precinct fighting a raging boner.”
us.
“Same,” Adil spoke from the front seat. “You were glorious. I love how you don’t really need us to stand up for you, but you let It’s sexy as all get out. You also get flushed cheeks, and you breathe deep, and it makes your breasts rise and fall and I swear my eyes were glued,” he leaned over the seat and tucked his fingers into her cleavage of her blouse, “right here.”
The driver’s cough made her slap his hands away, “Adil, behave. We are having lunch with the dads and then we can go home, and you can flatter me all you like.”
“I’d rather just go home. Why did you agree to go with them?” Adil pouted. “Seriously, we agreed to dinner on the weekend. Why are we having lunch now?”
“We ruined their tee time.”
“They’re being cockblocks.” Phineas complained and then looked at his phone as it pinged. He gave a loud groan and sighed dramatically.
“What?” Juniper couldn’t help but giggle at the way he was throwing himself back into the seat like a boy suffering a terrible punishment.
“Dad invited Mom and Maeve to lunch and apparently it’s now a group luncheon and Beni’s mom and Adil’s mom are also coming. It’s a huge lunch. We’re not getting out of there in an hour. We’ll be there all fucking afternoon. I wanted to celebrate the signing of the divorce papers and me getting my divorce decree.”
She laughed aloud at his blatant pouting. “Phineas, are you mad because your family wants to spend time with me?”
“Yes.” He didn’t deny it, his blue eyes staring into hers with alarming intensity. “It was a supposed to be a private celebration and now it’s a fucking family reunion. I want my girl.”
“Brat,” she laughed as she kissed his cheek.
“You were supposed to be my lunch. I intended to feast on you. I miss the taste of you on my tongue. I expected we would take you home, feed you cock and eat you until we were full. Now,” he sighed bitterly, “we need to eat salads and sandwiches and drink soda.”
“Phineas,” she snickered at his pouting, “you really are a spoiled man.”
“Paris?” Phineas asked.
“Tuscany,” Beni suggested with a nod.
“Costa Rica,” Adil offered with a grin.
“I was thinking Montreal or Calgary or Halifax, and you all went international.” She was in disbelief.
“You know what?” Beni said with a beaming smile, “I think it’s what we need.”
“What is?” she turned her head to him in disbelief.
“You should have your PAs rearrange your schedules for the next week. Dad already kicked me out of the office for two more weeks.”
“You didn’t tell me that!” Phineas stared at him and at Beni’s cocky smirk, Phineas was slack jawed. “He is giving you time off to get closer to Juniper!”
“My mother suggested it would be good for me to use up some vacation time in case Juniper is sad after signing her papers. Who am I to argue with my parents?”
“You could have told us.”
“I’m telling you now. Let’s plan a trip. Sort out your schedules and we can go.”
“Janice is going to ream me.” Phineas put his phone to his ear and sighed but his lips were in a big smile as he noted Adil was already texting Veronica.
