“So Latham was spying on his wife.”
Benson was busy sweet-talking his girlfriend over the phone. Layton, bored out of his mind, stepped out just to see what was going on.
Latham blew out a lazy puff of smoke and pointed fingers. “Your sister brought my wife here to hire male strippers.”
Layton stared, nerves climbing. He felt a little sorry for Adelina. Was she really bold enough to book models right in the open at a bar? Hadn’t she ever heard of getting a private room? Seriously, some people had no shame.
“I’ll talk to her about it later,” he said, frowning, then changed his mind. “Actually, I’ll do it now.”
With all the seriousness he could muster, Layton declared, “I’ll take them both home right away.”
“Male models. Really? What are they good for? Just a couple of abs, nothing else. No brains, no money—just sweet talk for silly girls.”
Latham’s voice was icy. “Does Georgiana really need you to play hero?”
Layton’s nerves shattered all over again. “Okay, that’s on me. I should keep my mouth shut sometimes.”
Just then, someone unexpected slid into the booth on the first floor.
Parr Main showed up in a ridiculous shirt covered in lipstick prints, a flashy platinum chain hanging from his neck. He sat right on the table facing Georgiana, one hand stuck in his pocket, looking like trouble.
With a crooked finger, Parr leaned toward her and smirked. “Not enjoying married life, huh? Guess your husband’s not cutting it if you’re here for male models.”
Adelina slid in front of Georgiana, arms crossed. “Parr, I’m the one who did the booking. Try to follow a conversation for once, will you?”
Georgiana’s glare was pure disgust. Without saying another word, she tipped her bottle and poured its contents right over Parr’s head. “Get out.”
Liquor ran down his face into his eyes, but Parr only grinned and licked some off the corner of his mouth. “Drinks from Gigi taste better than I expected.”
Latham’s gaze turned lethal. “Make sure he never talks to her like that again.”
Aaron made it to the booth in seconds, leading a crew.
Layton muttered, “You know, two years ago, Parr was famously chasing after Georgiana, even tried to propose through the Gates family. Helena almost gave her away to this creep. Thank God Okaes came back in time to shut it all down.”
Latham’s tone turned frosty. “You seem to know a lot about my wife’s business.”
