Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 122

Chapter 122

Jasmine’s face changed just a little. Why? Obviously because I care about staying alive!

No way she was going to risk her life for someone who didn’t mean anything to her.

But with Nicolas pressing her, she looked him in the eye and said, Because now there’s someone I care about even more!

What?Nicolas blinked, surprised.

Ignoring the rescue worker sitting just a few feet away, Jasmine looked straight at him and said, Nicolas, I care about you. I don’t want anything to happen to you. If you weren’t on this helicopter, I’d have flown straight ahead without hesitation, no matter how dangerous it was.”

She continued, But since you’re here, I can’t take that risk. Now that Zoya’s helicopter has already gone ahead, let’s wait. If she fails to rescue them, I’ll drop you off somewhere safe, and then I’ll go.”

Nicolas’s chest tightened. I’m sorry, Jasmine. I shouldn’t have doubted you, I

It’s fine. As long as you don’t doubt how much I care about you,Jasmine said softly.

The rescue crew in the cabin could barely keep from rolling their eyes.

The one who had insisted on flying the helicopter to rescue peoplewas Jasmine. The one who had insisted on bringing along a man with a broken wrist and a cast was also Jasmine. And now, she said she wouldn’t go because of her boyfriend. It was ridiculous.

And yet, that guy just sat there, moved nearly to tears like a total fool.

To the rescue worker, it was as clear as day. Jasmine was afraid. She was too afraid to fly forward, probably because her skills weren’t as good as she claimed. Fine by him. He didn’t want to risk his life in the hands of someone like her anyway.

Suppressing his disdain, the rescue worker pulled out his radio and contacted the team on Zoya’s helicopter. How’s it going on your end?

The reply came. We’re on site, about to go in and get them.”

Alright, good luck out there!the crew answered.

Once the call ended, Jasmine and Nicolas shared a glance.

The rescue worker sneered. If Ms. Ingram cares so much about this gentleman’s safety, maybe we should just head back. Because if anything goes wrong over there, by the time you drop him off and fly back to the island, there won’t be anyone left to save.

Jasmine was left speechless.

By the time Zoya’s helicopter landed on the rooftop helipad of Lucero Group headquarters, medical staff

were already waiting.

As soon as the rescued workers were carried out, the doctors began quick onsite checks before rushing them to the hospital.

Only then did Zoya finally exhale, stepping out of the cockpit. Finally, the rescue went off without a hitch.

But just then, Wren pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. The moment she breathed in his familiar scent, Zoya relaxed completely.

He held her tightly, arms locked around her waist and back, face buried deep in the curve of her neck. You’re finally back safe,he whispered hoarsely, shaking ever so slightly with the sheer relief.

Zoya found herself reaching up, gently running her fingers through Wren’s dark hair.

It had only been a little more than an hour apart, yet he was holding her like they’d been separated for years.

Yeah, I’m back safe!she said softly, her smile gentle and warm.

Wren hugged her even tighter, like holding her close was the only thing keeping his anxiety at bay.

Watching them, Daphne bit down hard on her lip, her eyes burning with resentment.

Nicolas watched as Wren wrapped Zoya in a tight embrace. His mind was filled with the image of Zoya fearlessly piloting her helicopter through the turbulent winds, risking everything to save people who had nothing to do with her.

Just like that time on the island, when she had jumped into the sea to save a child.

If she had been the one who jumped into the river to save him all those years ago

He cut the thought off sharply, scolding himself inwardly. What am I even thinking? The detective I hired got to the bottom of it ages ago. Jasmine was the one who rescued me back then, and there were eyewitnesses to prove it!

Even if Zoya was the kind of person who’d leap into danger without a second thought, she still wasn’t the one who saved him.

Nicolas shot a complicated look at Zoya’s hand, which was gently combing through Wren’s dark hair.

That hand had once brushed tenderly across his own hair, but now, all that softness belonged to another man.

Nicolas!Jasmine couldn’t hide the jealousy in her voice. Let’s get out of here.”

Zoya had totally stolen the show today, and Jasmine had embarrassed herself big time. She was boiling with frustration, ready to explode inside.

And just now, Nicolas had looked at Zoya with something almost like longing in his eyes. That made Jasmine’s heart twist with even more anxiety.

Nicolas finally tore his gaze away and nodded.

As they stepped into the elevator, Jasmine suddenly spoke up. Nicolas, if the chance comes, would you really make our relationship public?

Nicolas paused, clearly hesitant, then replied, Okay.

Good,” Jasmine said softly, lowering her gaze. If he can’t find the right chance, then I’ll make one myself, she thought.

Zoya was just about to crawl into bed when, out of nowhere, Wren showed up in her room. She definitely hadn’t seen that coming.

Something on your mind?Zoya asked, a little amused.

Can’t sleep,Wren said. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her flying off into the storm. And even knowing how skilled she was, his heart still clenched with fear.

When he tried to go with her, she gave him a reason that left him at a loss for words.

He knew Zoya was the kind of person who always stood up for what was right, someone with unshakable beliefs.

She shone too brightly, and sometimes, that light made him feel small in comparison.

He hated that she risked her life for others, yet that same courage was exactly what drew him to her in the first place.

It messed him up so much, he could barely handle it.

Zoya glanced at him. So, you can’t sleep. You want me to tell you a bedtime story?

I’m not a little kid,Wren muttered.

So?Zoya prodded.

I want to sleep with you,Wren said softly.

Zoya blinked, suddenly at a loss. Sleep with me? What kind of sleep?

She blinked. Sleepwith me?

He nodded, stepping closer. I can’t sleep alone tonight. I’mafraid.

Scared?Zoya arched her brow. Didn’t he already deal with everyone in the Richmond family who’s ever made trouble for him? Plus, I even upgraded the security system around here just a few days ago,she thought.

I’m just scared I won’t be able to find youscared something might happen to you,Wren whispered, almost to himself.

Zoya thought back to how he’d acted earlier when she flew off to help with the rescue. But I’m back safe now, aren’t I?

You are, but that fear is still stuck with me,Wren said quietly. Zozo, can I stay by your side tonight? I swear, unless you say it’s okay, I won’t lay a finger on you.

His eyes were brimming with longing and vulnerability.

Zoya had been ready to refuse. But seeing the raw fear in his eyes, the words stuck in her throat.

After a long pause, she finally said, Alright then. You can stay. After all, his anxiety was because of her.

Wren smiled and joined her on the bed, settling in right by her side.

The bed, which had felt spacious moments ago, suddenly seemed much smaller.

As Zoya leaned over Wren to pull the blanket, his hand shot out and caught her wrist. Zozo, I promised I wouldn’t do anything unless you wanted me to. Butwhat about you? Don’t you want to make a move on me?
